There are ways around that, they can all be friends. Even in heels!

The shirt is poly and the shorts are wicking nylon and have a gusseted crotch - not cycling specific, but cycling friendly.
You are fredly in the sense that you have fred flintstone feet, but I guess that's convenient if the breaks fail.

Actually I dress like you do most of the time, except running shoes instead of sandals for my platform pedals, and the shirt is usually a bright color.

They do make wicking polo shirts now, for when I want to get "dressed up."

For summer riding, this sounds ideal and similar to my setup. Only difference is that where possible, I'll try a brighter shirt on the theory that it is more visible to motorists (although I'm not too sure about that... maybe I should add "ïf they were looking"...).

In fact for much of this summer, my shortz were actually nylon swimming trunks with the liner cut out and some light nylon underwear underneath. This is quite a bit cooler than MTB shorts... though probably much less durable.

I normally wear brighter shirts when on the roads...red being my favorite...but in this case we were doing a BF social ride on a MUP.

FYI, those are not MTB shorts, just nylon "outdoor adventure" type shorts with a gusseted crotch...with merino wool undies underneath.

Well, the cycling specific gloves rule out homeless so I've got to go with the Fred theory ...

What I wear cycling, I stay within my personal wardrobe. I'll wear either an izod, soccer jersey or running shirt that fits looser than skin tight bicycling shirts, that way I still get the benefits of a quick dry and breathable shirt. Shorts, the more pockets the better to carry items without loading a backpack and having to lug that around. Shoes, nothing more than rubber soled tennis shoes. Dressed in this outfit, I can ride to where I'm going, then get off the bike and wander around without a wardrobe change.

Bikes: One brand-less build-up, and a Connondale Synapse Carbon Ultegra Disc. A nicer bike than I need, but it was a good deal, so... ;-)

I think the whole chamois issue is highly personal. For me, anything over about 8 miles in street clothes and parts of me are chafed that I don't really want to be chafed. Then again, I sweat like a racehorse.

Funny thing, since going back to leather bar tape, I rarely even wear gloves anymore unless it's cold...which only enhances my fredeliciousness.

I wear the gloves to protect my hands if I happen to hit the ground.
