Closer to Car Light
In a step towards selling the second car, I just received a rain fly for the bakfiets that will make it possible to ride with the little one in most of Denver's winter conditions (see attachment). She will be amply protected from the wind and dressed for the cold.
This move has given me the confidence to sell our "beater" car and get back to car light living.

Looks like that will work.
On to a different subject ,How's the air quality in Denver ? Denver area is an area, I'm looking at moving to in a few years after my kids are done from school.

That's cool that she's right in front of you instead of trailing behind in a trailer. Also she has a great view, so she probably won't get as bored on longer trips. It probably seems like a long time off to you, but in the blink of an eye your little one will be riding her own bike and you'll be struggling to keep up with her!

Roody, no doubt. We've got another one on the way so it'll be a little longer but you are dead on, the moments seem to be slipping away. Riding with her in the bakfiets makes the moments last longer, at least in my mind. We talk about the things we are riding past, she makes faces at me, I ask her about her day. Not a bad schtick at all.
Gerv, It doesn't handle like my cyclocross bike but it isn't too bad actually. It took my about 30 seconds to recognize the differences in handling and then it was fine. (this version is a little shorter than the traditional bakfiets so handles slightly better) I don't think I'd tour on it but it is truly delightful for family rides, trips to the park and grocery store.

I can't think of a better way to introduce your kids to cycling than what you are doing.
