there are some cool slogans in this thread but most of them are only pro bike not really "living car free" related.

Worked 12 hours a day?! GAH! This is why I'm glad I'm American and not a Chinese assembly line worker.

This is why I graduated from College, so I could live a life of luxury like Joeybike and work as little as possible at the expense of others.

Life of luxury? https://www.bikeforums.net/showthread...1#post15949575

If that is your version of luxury I am glad to leave it to you and your pal. Enjoy the good life!

However ...

I have a little pin (which Rowan gave me) that says, "Cycle Instead". It suggests that, whether you own a car or not, for many of your trips you could choose to cycle instead ... and for me that connects on a fitness level. Instead of sitting in a car, I could be riding my bicycle and improving my fitness level.

That's how it gets started. Then one day, someone gives you a t-shirt like "Cyclists of the world unite. You have nothing to lose but your chains."

One day you wear it to a party. Several people adore it. You feel a bit better about life...

Myself, I have a bunch of t-shirts like these. I get them from events and volunteering. I'm certainly not putting them in my sock drawer.

Yes, the slippery slope of bicycle slogans. But the one you quoted actually goes "....You have nothing to lube but your chains."

LOL. Sorry I couldn't pass on the humor in your statement. Smugness is always a vice... by definition. I am sure you must have meant: Smugness in defense of Earth Day is an acceptable vice.

That's an old classic, arguably the best of them all. Haven't seen you on this forum lately. What's up? Still riding up and down the coast?

And vice is always acceptable to its voluntary participants.

It wasn't a slogan, but a naked female cyclist with writing on her back,"can you see me now?" I thought it was brilliant.
