Monthly Metric

How about a monthly metric challenge? This distance is a little more attainable on a monthly bases.

It doesn't take most of your day to ride and the next to recover.

So far I'm three for three this year

If you're in the US, and do 100k randonneuring rides 12 months in a row, you can get the P-12 award. There's also an R12 award for twelve 200k's.
People in the north have trouble in the winter, so the challenge involved is not uniform for everyone. Pretty easy down here.

I'm at P-6 for my P-12. Figure I have the worst weather months our of the way now. I'm in northern Illinois. The addition of some winter cycling gear has expanded the range of temperatures and conditions that I'm willing to ride in.

As far as all 100K or longer rides go, Populaires or just on my own, I have 3 for January, 2 for February, and 2 for March.

It was beautiful day here and I got in #4. The ride was a lot more enjoyable without the winter layers.

Between sketchy weather and an injured knee, I was able to get in 4 this month. I was shooting for two a week.

Not just Northern weather

A month of 100^F weekends killed my R-12 two years in a row. I don’t think it’s the cold north that suffers weather challenges.

This year I’m planning on driving to the coast and doing SF Bay Area perms if the weather is too hot where I’m at.
