just got it this summer but it's already been through a century, 3 200k's, and hopefully two more 200k's in september (and many more to come). this picture was at the last controle of the NJ rando shore by night back in july.

2000 schwinn super sport GLX. 52cm. reynolds 853 frame, carbon fork.
shimano 105 5500 group. ultegra long cage rear der. 52/42/30t crank. 12-26t cassette.
some 110mm stem flipped up to 42cm FSA omega bars.
ritchey post to a beat up turbo.
ALX 298R wheelset. not as many spokes as i would like but they are relatively light and i love the bzzzzy freewheel.

sunlite handlebar bag. attached to the bars which makes handling kinda awkward but i'll deal for now.
topeak bar extender to get lights shining underneath bag.
carradice super c audax. bagman2 QR support.
SKS raceblade longs. rainy day biking stealth reflective mudflaps (rear flaps used F + R).

also pictured is my shimano dynamo hub powering a friend's supernova E3 triple headlight + supernova tail light. planning on an edelux II soon.

I was a volunteer marshal for yesterday's New York City Century.
Rode over 100 miles(160 km.) on a Brompton folding bike. I listed
the parts I changed in the photo's comments:

The Moulten earned it's small C yesterday... 124 km in some truly craptastic weather that preceded the snow we got this morning.

It would have been be no problem to ride this bike 160 km save for not wanting to do extra laps of the city in the dark.

To prepare this climb (Mt Ventoux) I do two centuries with this 1977 GITANE "Tour de France"...these old GITANE are excelents for long rides !

first things first -- sounds like you should replace the rim tape. It shouldn't move.

Velox Cloth Rim Tape | Velox

Next -- I run a 50/34 up front and a 12-28 in back. Works for me

What to take? food, water -- but the most important item if you're riding 100mi is planning the route so you can refill water and get snacks along the way....

I just can't get over how nice this bike is. It makes me feel foolish for spending so much money on custom French-style rando bikes.

Waterford Custom Frame

Just had this built. Waterford custom frame, Record 10 speed triple, Nitto racks. Got sized up at the Waterford factory, wanting a sport-touring type frame. This is my "getting old" bike, replacing my Merlin Extrlight for doing long distance. I am looking forward to putting a lot of miles on this thing.

what is your average speed in century. What crank size and cassete size do you use in century. My steel road bike is weight with the two bottles water 27 pounds. Do you think is possible i do century with that heavy bike?

THAT IS NOT A HEAVY BIKE - it weighs a lot less than you do. Whether it is possible for YOU to do a century depends more on YOU than on the bicycle. In one day I've ridden 85 miles and gained almost a mile in altitude on a bike loaded with 35 lbs of touring gear, rode 300 miles in 24 hours on a bike weighing about 26 lbs. Crank/cassette size has nothing to do with whether one can do a century.

Thank you, qcalabrat. That is a Berthoud Frontbag Basic. It is a nice bag. Well put together, and a lot of room in it. Got it from Wallingford Bicycle Parts.

bobbyl1966, I haven't weighed it yet, but it is close to my Fuji Suncrest MB (as a matter of fact, I have never weighed it), and I have done centuries on that. I've been out of town quite a bit lately, and haven't had a chance to do a longer ride on it, but so far it is a smooth riding machine. A whole different world than my Merlin Extralight. As cny-bikeman said, it's more about the rider, than the bike.

I completed my second century at the start of this month. I was on my road bike instead of my touring bike this time.

And after breaking my 3rd rear Honjo I'm trying the PDW Full Metal Fenders.
Took it out for a shakedown today to test the USBWerk powering the GoPro.

To do - mount up the wired tailight (Secula+ (for post / stay mounting)), make a light bracket that will fit a Paul Rack Adapter bolt for the eDeluxe, and get something larger than Conti 28s or Pasela 28s to ride on. Likely the Clement USH or the new Compass tires in a 30 or 32. And figure out mounting / wiring for the USBWerk, and play with either my Ortlieb HBar Bag or the Jannd Mountain2 front bag. I also have a Revelate Tangle that will hold a 70oz bladder, with hose setup for longer rides.
Absolutely stunning!

The Magic Bike is a 2014 BMC GF01.

On Feb 21, the Magic Bike turns 1 year old. So far I've ridden the MB on 6 centuries, 3 double metric centuries, and one double century. One more double metric & double century to go, I'll ride the double on the MB's birthday.
