I should think keeping good form and spirit should be the rule of the day. Not letting your knickers get all twisted - you know mate?

What ever your finish time - just go about it with the old stiff upper lip - and a smile for the ladies -- good day.

i think dick van **** just showed up like he did in mary poppins.

As you'll see, there's a lot of them in the UK. Easy enough to do one every weekend throughout the summer.

I never did more than 17 miles in training when I ran marathons and I find my 50 mile hilly (make that mountainous) routes on a bike quite comfortable at 16mph average. I've done 80 miles, so I'm sorry to sound over-confident, but I do think I can do 100. What I haven't done is ridden distances in a large group... hence (my original question) I'm not sure what a respectable time would be.

As for getting caught out by the unexpected, I know the route like the back of my hand and only live 20 miles or so from the farthest point ... worst case scenario: mobile phone call / wife comes and picks me up.

Thanks for the encouragement anyway.
