Did the 200k (in a series of 2,3,4 and 600k every other saturaday) in about eigtht hours, nice weather and good people, hope to do the 300k next saturday. Did the 200 on an 87 steel bike with downtube shifters, worked like a dream. Not shure about the 400k and 600, depends on weather and company.

Just managed to finish the Israel 1000 with less than 10 minutes to spare. Climbing from the Dead Sea in 47 degrees is not recommended. Climbing the Large Makhtesh and Makhtesh Ramon hairpins is truely memorable but I've seen quite enough other Israeli rocks and sand at the moment.

Another windy brevet in Ohio, this time a 300k. Beautiful rolling farmland, waving Amish family in their buggy, bonus miles... what more could I want?

The Texas Rando Stampede is pretty darn early in the year, May 1-4, so I'll at ride a century, a 300, a 400 and then a 200 prior to it. I'd like to attempt a 600 but it's something like 2-3 weeks prior to the 1200. I'm not sure I can attempt it and then attempt a 1200.
There's a flèche on our schedule. if i can complete these, i think that I only need a Populaire to qualify for the RUSA Cup. That could be an issue since the closest one appear to be in San Diego.

- 100k, RUSAP
- 200, 300, 400, 600, 1000, brevets (RUSAB or ACP)
- domestic 1200
- Fleche or Arrow or Dart,
- plus additional calendared events to get 5000-kms in calendared events
- all within a rolling-2-year period that starts with the first event in your list of events
You didn't mention the 1000.

I've got two 200K brevets planned and a 200k Perm. Hoping to get a 300 in this year too. Great Lakes Randonneurs and Fox Valley Perm!

The 300 got pushed back a week so last weekend we did a 200 again and tomorrow will be the first 300. The winds are forecast to be light, but the overnight low is -2C and a high of 12C so it will be a chilly start and long sleeve weather all day.

First one in the books! Very windy 200K this past weekend in WI (at least it seemed hellaciously windy to me! Maybe the seasoned vets just laughed.). Didn't deter me, though -- going for the 300 in a few weeks.

NCBC 400k Brevet
May-11, Mud-Pit 'n Possum 400k: https://irregularveloadventures.blogs...km-brevet.html
At first, I didn't think the blog post was very interesting, but now (May-16) I think it is okay.
I fixed a lot of the typos, missing words, and grammar errors, etc..

This coming weekend: I'm getting my RUSA definition populaire series to P-17 (I'm going to visit Bahama Beach on Saturday).
My RUSA definition R-series is already at R-34 due to the Carthage Coffee Run 201-km RUSA def'n Permanent that I rode on May-04.
It is always good to do an "insurance" ride early in the month if there is ANY doubt that a longer ride might not get completed.
It is easier for us in North Carolina (also, Texas, California, Washington State) to keep an R-series going during the Winter than those living in colder climates -- most of the 5 or 6 or 7-year long (or longer) streaks are in the aforementioned states. I may be wrong, but I think the Floridians have trouble keeping their streaks going during the Summer (because of the heat + humidity).
I've seen people note that after the struggle to get to R-12, they take a month off to eliminate the pressure, and then (sometime(s)) start again for another R-12. I found that although getting to R-12 did indeed seem an epic struggle, since then, the rides just seem to happen -- others have commented similarly. People do tend to schedule their R-rides for the first weekend of the month; however, every so often, an R-series is rescued on the last weekend or last day of the month.
Good grief -- I got way off topic!

Did my first 200K "official" brevet on April 20th. Weather was pretty good, no tailwind in the AM but we picked up a good headwind with wind gusts of 25 MPH for the last 48 miles, but it can easily be worse than that for this route in the spring.

Had another 200K last year but was not a RUSA member.
Also decided to join RUSA (#8720)
Have an unofficial 200K this Saturday for training of a double century the last week of June (140+ miles first day and 100+ miles the next morning). Will probably do another 200K training ride next month before the double century. Last year we ran temps of 108 and 102 degrees for the end of June ride.
Now that I'm in RUSA want to get over to Houston to ride with the group sometime. Maybe a 300K, we'll see.

that's what I did after my first R-12, and decided I am not going to do it any more. Once you skip one, it's easy to keep skipping. I like to make sure I can ride that far every month. Although my first R-12 ended with what I call the "stupidest 200k ever ridden" which actually is known about outside of Pennsylvania. I'm not sure where I am on my 3rd R-12, 3 months maybe.

It may be known about outside of PA, but it isn't known about in the chair where I'm sitting. ... So ... why the "stupidest 200k ever ridden?"

Raleigh, NC Region 600 starts Saturday, Jun-01, at 0600.
Still time to register and ride if you have the equipment, time, and desire.
But seriously, still time to register:

https://www.unc.edu/~alanj/600_kilometers.htm
With a little luck and whatever, this will complete my SR for this year.

Finished the Raleigh, NC Region 600 yesterday at about 7:01 pm.
It got pretty HOT on Sunday.
I just love it when the high temps go from the mid-or-upper 70's to the 90's, with no (or almost no) 80's in between to help with the acclimatization process.
I'll post a link to the blog report after I write, er, make that type it.
However, here is the most notable moment from the ride:
We hit a gray fox! -- at about the 350-km point.

four years ago on January 1, below 20 degrees F, and 30 to 50 mph winds in an area with no shelter. I actually thought I did permanent damage to my hands they got so cold. I was wearing very good mittens with hand warmers. I dnf'ed at 90 miles, there were 5 people that rode the whole distance, including one that finished hours late. Whenever anyone says, "that was epic," I always respond that epic is not a synonym for stupid.

I had a DNS two weekends ago, the first time I've not finished a planned brevet. Stomach pain hit me en route to Columbus and worsened overnight in my hotel room; I'm convinced now it was a gallstone rather than food poisoning as originally thought.
I've second guessed the decision to DNS even though I know it was the right decision. It was a darn gorgeous day.

The weather delays pushing back the start of the season have created some conflicts with some prior commitments. So it looks like it will just be 200's and 300's for me this year.

I had a dnf on my 600, so I'm headed to New Jersey this weekend to try again. I was second guessing my decision to DNF, but then I read a ride report that said the second day had everyone suffering from too much heat. That's what took me out the first day, my digestive system just shut down with messy results.

I haven't managed to do a full SR series for the last couple of years due to scheduling, and this year is the same. My fall-back last year for a longer ride was the ROMA Appalachian Double Cross 1000k, which is conveniently located near my Dad's house and in October after most of my scheduling conflicts are over. I haven't made any real plans, but at this point it looks like if I want to do anything longer than the Fleche this year, I'll be doing it again. Anyway, I forgot my camera battery last time, so I'd like to go back and take some photos this time.
And seeing as I was the only entrant last year, I can afford to decide at the last minute... not like it's going to fill up.
It's a tough one, but it is definitely scenic. If anyone's looking for something pretty and low-key (and with 57,000 feet of climbing), I'd love some company! (although I ride at a sort of weird pace sometimes, especially in mountains)

You're right. Thanks for keeping me honest. I originally thought one of my two 1200's would suffice but when I realized it wouldn't, I didn't update my post because quite frankly, I had forgotten about it. The time between my original post and your comment was almost five months but again, thank goodness you were able to point it out to me.
