Was going to get my trailer registered today. The Nevada DMV posts wait times on their website. 58m. Methinks I get up early Monday morning.

I guess I have to brag a bit about my wife. She somewhat reluctantly entered the Pasadena Senior Games 10K run which was on the perimeter roads around the Rose Bowl. It turns out that no other women entered the 10K race and it also turns out she could have entered the 5K race which the organizers ran simultaneously. Basically, they timed you at the end of the first 5K loop. You got two different numbers for each race to keep the timing straight. Several men did this.

Everyone started at the same time, including the race walkers. I went across the course on the first lap and the first person through was a man who was "only" racing the 5K. The next runner through was... my wife!

If she had entered the 5K she would have been the first woman and second overall.

Her second lap was much slower but so was everyone else as SoCal was in the middle of a heat wave. She ended up winning the 10K by a little over 20 seconds. She beat third place by a minute.

I rode 52 miles back to LB in the heat of the day and had the additional pleasure of having a headwind all the way home.

Hmmm... Ex rides Specialized, and has spent a lot of time on moto bikes. So who is really in this promo? Inquiring minds want to know:

Regardless of who it is , I really like some of the ads Specialized has come out with. First the kid dropping Tom Boonen, now this.

Every time I think of "Isle of Man" and "motorcycles" in the same thought, Mike Hailwood comes to mind. Dating myself...

Last night we had some non-cycling friends over for dinner. They were talking about their neighbor who also races, except that it was obvious they were talking about a club metric century. I nodded and smiled. My meds must finally be working.

Spent the day at our national youth championships. Our team's star 13 year-old got second in the U14 age group, just touched off by half a wheel by the reigning champion, the pair of them having sprinted clear of the bunch. Rode a really smart race, the other guy just had a fraction too much for him. He's only been racing just over a year, didn't know whether to be delighted or heartbroken.

Very proud of the kid. Makes putting the time in worthwhile.

Fourth day at our cabin in Western PA. Got in the prescribed riding, some quality fishing and enjoyment of family and beer. My index finger does have some abrasions from opening green bottles. A dish towel or bottle opener has prevented further damage.

Giacamo Agostini. Phil Read. Hailwood and the 250/6 was special music. Not as unique as the 12 speed Suzuki but frenetically smooth.

We lost too much talent to that course...long list. My brother is buddies with Chip Hennan, Pat's brother. Pat ended his career there. Different time. It might have been worse than F1 during the same time, which was pretty pricey in lives.

That said I did plenty of unsanctioned street racing back in the day. No doubt when I was young and dumb I would have been all over it. Now? I'm hard to kill but not indestructible. I used up 9 lives a long time ago.

The Isle of Mann TT is nuts. It seems like someone dies almost every year. It's almost expected. Thankfully the dark days of F1 are long gone. After Senna died, the FIA got really serious about safety. Not sure how the TT survives in this era. It's a throwback course with modern machines and riders with throwback mentality.

@chasm54, your time is worthwhile regardless of their results. Just getting them involved with the sport is a great thing.

Just took my first ride on my new wheelset. They were recommended to me by a friend who buys very high-end kit and said he'd been amazed at how these felt almost as good as his Zipps - which were more than three times the price. And I must say I'm impressed, they feel quick. Clinchers - I can't be bothered with tubs, frankly, and I'm told that the clinchers on the wide 23mm rims are more aero, anyway. No doubt RacerEx will have a view about that...

Check out the dude in the first image. International big time! It's a good thing the helmet has some room for expansion.

All apples aren't the same color or the same flavor. And it depends on when they are picked. And they taste different in different dishes too. There is no "best apple".

Race predictors are uncanny at predicting winners. USA cycling has my wife winning the 500 at elite track nationals. https://www.usacycling.org/myusac/in...13&step=riders

@Hermes, I didn't need no stinking Race Predictor to figure that out.

We are on our way to Geneva Switzerland for the start of our bicycle tour to Marseille, France and then flying to London for 5 days. Nothing but Fred rides, eating and drinking.
