Same here. I'll be in touch.

I want to win the M55+ race this weekend. Repeat at my favorite course in the Northeast. I want it. Bad. It's all I think about in my spare moments.

I know how big that one is for you, Shovel, and it's a huge race, period. I'm certainly not betting against you. I'll have my fingers crossed, hoping the stars align.

Good luck to all racing this weekend! I'm taking a different direction and going to my college track and field team's reunion on Saturday. The coach from the team I was on back in 1971-75 is coming too! It is an annual event that is open to all alumni who were on the track and cross country teams. There will be an 8K cross country race that pits the current team against the alumni. The alumni runners get a 50 meter head start for every year since they graduated. My class will get a 1,900 meter head start. (Almost wish I could still run. Not!) Since many of us were sprinters and/or threw something heavy and are now old and fat there is also a bike ride option that goes off early in the AM. I'm doing the bike ride and will be looking for town line signs up the road. I might be old and fat but I still enjoy a good pissing contest.

Flight delayed again. It looks like we will not make the 7PM session and will probably stay in Irvine and go to an open session tomorrow. There was some fog at SFO that closed a runway in the morning. Oh well.

And I always have looked up to him as one of the greatest big-men ever to play the game. I had a slightly older friend who played against him in HS (San Diego) and he said it was just impossible to get a shot off against him. I remember one photo in the paper. Walton was taking a jump shot. The defender's head was at his waist.

His performance in the NCAA finals as a Junior, against Memphis St., was in my opinion the single greatest college basketball effort ever. He missed only one shot, which fell off the front of the rim. Unbelievable.

One of my team mates is doing the same CC experience. They get to stay in the same hotels as the teams and have the same services provided. All they have to do is ride their clean bike, shower, eat and sleep then repeat the next day. Mike posted this image today. He carried Bill Wslton's personal chair into the meal site.

Carmichael makes a big deal about being "bucket list qualified," but Walton said he took ten and a half hours to do the ride...165km. I guess "bucket list qualified" = "did his check clear?", at least for Walton. I could probably beat his time by four hours, and I'm a year older...but I'm not a former college/NBA star, nor is my bike painted like his. Hell yeah, I'm jealous!

In earlier iterations, the group apparently consistently finished in front of the pros. If there's a little wiggle room in there...I'm buying a Powerball ticket.

Don't know if he won or not, or how the times played out, so no spoiler... Talansky absolutely buried himself in the TT today, pretty much collapsing at the finish. Great to see someone leave it all on the course.

I enjoyed reading bits and pieces from both sides of the Walton/Wooden relationship. Both are pretty admirable.

Of course I need to be different when it comes to action cameras. I bought a Contour+2 with some "award" money that I got at work. I just couldn't get into the boxy shape of the Go Pro.

I've been fooling around with it but I haven't been happy with the mounts that were specifically available for Contour. I finally found an adapter so that I could use the K-Edge handlebar mount for Go Pro cameras. It looks and works great with the Contour adapter.

Anyway, I found out that Contour went out of business a couple of weeks ago. Their web site is still up and I can still get a spare battery through Amazon. I guess I'm in good company since @carpediemracing also has a Contour camera.

If I can make it to the last Tuesday twilight race of the year, I'll race with the camera on the bike. My videos from today's club ride were messed up in general due to user error.

Didn't Walton ride the track in Encino? I have a recollection of a photo of him on a track bike.

When we lived in San Diego, we rode Tecate to Encinada one year and Walton rode it as well. I remember a huge pace line behind him. Great guy.
