90 solid minutes of z2/3. The last ten minutes are getting easier. I think that for the next couple of weeks, I'm going to keep the same intensity but keep pushing out the time in order to lift the line on the far end of the time/power curve.

First ride since the required layoff. 1:36 at endurance pace. The backs of my thighs were not happy campers...took them a good 45 minutes to loosen up, though they were good afterwards. I've got a Specialized stem on the Allez that changes angle via inserts; I switched from -8 to -12 degrees, and may have found my limit for how much seat-bar drop I can handle. I'll ride it again tomorrow, and if my back still complains, I'll return it to -8 degrees. IF .69, TSS 76, 858 kj.
Oh, and the PSA was 3.9. Looking good so far!

It's common to feel it in your hamstrings when dropping the stem. Give it a few weeks to adapt. Also try dropping the saddle a half a centimeter.

Day off. I worked on my old motorcycle (yes, I do that).

Two hour group ride this morning. I rode with the "B" group rather than the team. The group split into two 45 minutes into the ride, with me in the faster group. We picked up the pace to the low-to-mid 20s, with one guy about my age on a tri bike with a 140.6 tattoo on his calf doing a bunch of the pulling, but I got a few good ones in there too. I felt really good - no hamstring tightness, no back problems, no problem putting out power when I needed to. I'm sure glad I got that stuff out of the way last night!
Tomorrow will be three-four hours at endurance pace with a chance of thunderstorms. Just got a new headlight, it'll get its baptism of, uh, rain tomorrow.

Bummer about the Garmin. Was it its time to go, or was this premature?

Oh no, it just ran out of battery because I'd left it on all last night in the garage. I had 5% battery when I left so I was pleasantly surprised it went as long as it did.

My Garmin died today. It's been on it's last legs since it fell off of my bike in a crit last August. The PT worked perfectly, though, so I did capture the important data.
55 miles, 3hr 35min today with a TSS of 230.1 and an IF of just 0.784. That's because I was doing what coach told me to do - riding smart and staying sheltered. I was with a group of ten, two of us were women. Most of the group were current or former racers. The pace was high, but the nice part was that the usual race shenanigans of drilling it off of each corner wasn't there. I sat in mid pack most of the ride, got a bit off the back on the first tough climb, but climbed better and stayed attached later in the ride. On the last three miles of the ride, I finally took a pull, ramped the pace up to about 25. One of the young guys came around me and pushed up it to 28. I almost got his wheel, but couldn't quite get the recovery I needed after that effort, so I slowed a little and drifted back. Rolled into the parking lot feeling pretty good about myself and the bike.

I had really bad luck with my 305s - the altitude went bonkers on me on the first one, then the second and third stopped finding the satellites. I gave up and went with a new 500, which has been almost perfect in the two years I've had it. The sole problem with the 500 is the elevation at start - where I live is ~150 feet ASL, but the 500 will show anywhere from -300 to +300. This is a Garmin "feature" due I guess to its dependence on atmospheric pressure for elevation data, and it usually rights itself after about 15 minutes if I don't move the bike. OTOH, elevation gain and loss are consistent regardless of what the start elevation is.

Sara, you and I must be on the same plan.
I did about 2:45 ride time and 210TSS yesterday with the club. The cycling gods must have been shining down on me because, for once, we had unseasonably warm weather, the group was well matched, and they chose a flat route so I could spend some good time on the front. These guys (no women yesterday) were Cat3/4's and a Cat1 MTB. I did a good bit of tempo, threshold and above. Took all of the sprints, even the last one where I was just leading them out.

Shovel, really?
AJ, yes, I just had FUN yesterday. I did exactly what I was supposed to do and had a good time doing it. New route helped, it was fun. That was the best time I've had on the bike in a while.
Chuck, my 305 had been just fine until it hit the pavement. It's been dying a slow death since then. The reset/lap button has quit, the speaker quit, there is something rattling around inside it - and yesterday it paused itself and the HR stopped reading. The PT uses the same HR strap, and it was working, so I know it was the Garmin. Poor thing.

After yesterday's easy ride I got out the cross bike and worked on dismounts/mounts, short hill bike carries and race starts. Having absolutely no ******g in the tank my body rebelled with serious leg cramping during the night.

AZTR - That's great to hear you're back on the bike!
I went out again this morning, not feeling quite as rambunctious as yesterday. Three hours and change at endurance pace with a father-son duo, both of whom took first place in their age/class in the state this year. The first two hours went fine, we came back to the start point and they switched to their TT bikes and we left again at what was the same effort level for them...for me, it was a bit higher. I stuck with them for a half hour and pulled the plug and rode back to the car.
I had my own Garmin issue today. The cadence sensor decided to go whacko, and one of the fixes I tried was turning the Garmin off and back on when we stopped for a nature break - didn't fix the issue, but I forgot to hit the "start" button when we started riding again, so the data is missing about fifteen minutes of the ride. I probably need to pull the battery out of the cadence sensor and re-insert it.
