Back when my wife was still teaching we split house cleaning. It never took me 30 minutes to clean my bathrooms.

What with the shorter days and my work/professional obligations increasing I've been reduced to weekend warrior status.

So today's ride, like most of my rides this month, was social. Just 4 of us, c_gallagher & 2 of my teammates, a CAT4 lady and a CAT3 lady who crashed her bike 3 wks. ago. She wanted a long, easy ride for her first day back on the bike since then. Social fun on a beautiful autumnal day.

Tomorrow is the last rest day of a rest week. I'm not sure those around me will survive the time remaining until my next ride.

Looking forward to this 4-day weekend and getting a good training block in. I'd like to get off the 6-7 hour/week rut I've been in since June and crank up the saddle time a bit.

On the other hand, my club's annual banquet was yesterday... some trackie talk got me a excited for Masters States. I might have to stop winging it and get on a specific plan for once.

1.5 hours at pace tempo, solidly Z2 (with an occasional Z3), then followed by 1.0 of core training. Oww. !

Finally back on the bike. I managed to not kill any family members during my recovery week, but it was close - really close.

90' this morning, z3 with some z4.

1:45 hybrid training. I decided to ride outside and looked at the doppler radar. There was rain to the north but none on my route. The animated projection of the rain looked good - I believed them. As soon as I had my power meter calibrated, I felt a sprinkle. I started to ride and did a circuit around my neighborhood. I decided to head toward Skyline. As I started to go up the valley, the mist increased. I turned around and headed back for more circuits. Then I decided to try a climb. It was going well but after a couple of minutes, it started to rain harder. I scurried home and went inside and set the bike up on the trainer and finished with a 40 minute z2 constant power block.

Of course as soon as I set up the bike on the trainer the rain stopped and the streets dried up.

I set up a night ride and no one showed up today. I just had a bad feeling about riding alone today so I went home and did 1:15 on the rollers.

Both of my sons will be home for the holiday tomorrow and I'm hoping for a family mtb ride. The off-season ends Dec 1 when I'm back on the "plan".

A hurried and cold commute today. 19 degrees on the way in, 30 degrees on the way home. In between, a work day from hell.

Endurance pace yesterday and today; 1:25 yesterday and :55 today, the most I could fit in after work and before dark. Travel day tomorrow, then hopefully about 14 hours at endurance pace over the Thanksgiving weekend. No intervals, so no Powertap - I'll be using my '87 Centurion Ironman w/updated drivetrain.

40 minute ride to run some errands and test ride an SL4. 20 minute SL4 test ride. 40 minutes on the fixed gear running a 48 x 19. 80 TSS and it feels like it. I had planned on doing my weight and core workout that I missed Monday. Might still happen. Probably not.

It's very nice. I've got a plan going to really complicate my life in the short term but simplify things come race season. I need to do some math first.

Well, it only rained enough to chase me off the road to the trainer. I went to the gym for some bridge work, Roman Chair, foam roller and a long steam. My bride is on the rollers crushing a simulated track workout.

I'm hoping to get in 1 hour of easy riding plus some openers tomorrow to keep my legs warm for that hill on Thursday. It might be wet in the morning, and if it is, I'll hit the gym for spin, but NOT follow the leader!

I'm still waiting for my PT computer. I may have to climb that hill using heart rate and perceived exertion (not so steep that I want to stop before I die or so steep I want to die and stop when I hit the pavement).

Had a glorious 90'+ tempo ride, keeping it in lower z4 range most of the time. There was some over-gear work early on, then just great miles without much interruption from traffic lights. Ended up at 34mi.

Hi, last night I started what I hope will be a 6-day block of base training at the velodrome. Vance was there riding much faster than I. Short recovery ride today. 42 mile, solo ride to my parents' house tomorrow (getting dropped off part of the way there). Not sure about the rest of the week.

From what you guys have described, "base training" and "Velodrome" should never be part of the same sentence unless the words "not at" are inserted.

Our wonderful November weather continued but it took me 5 hours to put new brake pads and rotors on my son's 08 Civic, resulting in no ride today. Why do simple jobs take way too much time when it’s nice out? Hopefully I'll get out early on T-day for a brisk ride before we entertain my son's soon to be family (the future in-laws) for Thanksgiving. My wife is cooking a 22 lb. bird and I'm deep frying a 12lb Cajon seasoned injected bird. We should have a lot of turkey for 9 people.

Hmm. Western MA to Ohio, 12 hours? I could get pretty hungry in 12 hours.
