Thanks guys! Actually Heathpack, it's more like "valygrl sits in for 51.5 miles and then sprints a little too late" but i'm really happy with the result. today's race is at 4:55... and it's 90+ degrees again. Sitting around waiting for the race. At least I got to spend the morning watching tour de france with a cat sitting on my lap.

Longmont Sr Crit Champs, SW3, 5th/17. There were 5 of us on my team in the race so we figured we better own the podium - My teammate who won yesterday won today from the break, my other teammate took 3rd, as her last race as a 3, and I filled out the 5-deep podium in 5th, with another teammate coming in right behind me.
Non-technical 6 corner crit on good wide roads, with some hard racing. My teamie and I both countered the prime mid race, she got away to bridge to another gal, I couldn't make it and went back to the field to recover and sit in for the sprint. Since I had a teammate up the road, I didn't do anything until the very strung-out 'field' sprint.

The Montana Race report.
No Colorado racing the last 2 weekends for me, and no racing the upcoming weekend either. But that doesn't mean that I'm not battle-weary. I'm visiting in Montana, where I'm battling in-laws, kids demanding that I play in the river, ice cream, bears, donuts, state-fair-worthy indian fry bread...and the only time I am able to escape these battles is on long, tough, solitary training rides on beautiful roads or trails that are quite devoid of syphilization.
Except that one time a couple of days ago wherein some schmoe stole a strava KOM of mine that had stood for 2 years. It seems that nobody else had ridden that segment in 2 years; that's Montana for you. Well he happened to steal my KOM while I was in back in town, so I stole it back the very next day. And that's racing, Montana style, as far as I'm concerned.

One nice thing about the TT is the sheild some helmets have, which allow the wearing of glasses under it. "They" say there may be a slight penalty with it, but it's worth it to me. Unsure if this is an option?

LAJ, I've tried glasses under the shield, but my position puts the top frame right in the way, and the view is distorted. I actually see better without the glasses. My problem is an astigmatism, distance isn't good. Close in and medium range is fine.

@sarals, it was good to see you at Sattley and great job racing both the ITT and TTT. I am sure that TTT was difficult as the wind picked up plus TTTs are just hard. Did you ever think you would win a state championship jersey? I know that when I started racing, I thought a state jersey was out of reach. You are allowed to wear it to bed.
MEA did the district championship 65-69 ITT and won her age group and set a new national record beating the old record by 1:30.
When we arrived, the energy in the velodrome was over the top. My HR was 120. It was like the world championship with more at stake. We had a number of amazing rides from the racers and I was very happy to be a part of the experience.
Thanks VG... BTW, many helmets test faster without the visor using glasses.

Two more medal to Sara's collection. Great race reports, too.
I hadn't seen MEA's report until today. I read it, then watched the video. I could see the while thing unfold just as she described it. Going out fast, backing off. Her form was impeccable until the last lap, which you would expect. What a great ride.

And then to see her coming the other way out on the course at Sattley, while she was in the process of setting another record - awesome! I think I said something to her prior to that race about doing just that!
No, I did NOT believe I'd - ME - would ever own a State Jersey!!
And I will wear it to bed!!!

@sarals, very nice work. I think @Hermes bought several state champion jerseys so he can wear one to bed every night.
@valygrl, two good days of racing in a row. Quite an achievement. Upgrading as a Master? Even bigger achievement.

Weekend race report in brief:
Two jerseys/golds, a silver and a bronze for me at state track. Athlete clients won two state jerseys, set one new national record, and took two bronze medals at the national senior games over the weekend. Week prior we got a world and a national record.
It's not been a bad week. Not at all.
And someone replaced my legs with wooden planks.
More to follow.

I believe Pactimo is the championship clothing supplier this year. We have seen this movie before but hopefully, they revised the ending.
Champion System made the skin suit that MEA rode for her record attempt. It fit her perfectly and was very tight. Carbon Rear Zipper SpeedSuit - Women's Cycling Collection - Cycling - Browse Custom Apparel
It is too bad that Champion cannot be the championship clothing provider.

I had the opportunity to hang with R'Ex and his team pursuit guys on Sunday. R'Ex was debating whether to do the points race. Couple of guys were encouraging him to race and he was making them beg for it. Begging R'Ex into an age group race is tantamount to the chickens begging the fox into the chicken coup. Maybe they could get him to work for them just like the chickens thinking that the fox will help out and sit on their eggs. Maybe.

For one who (was) a non-athlete when I came into this, to achieve what I have this summer, at my age, to me is still mind blowing. I could not have done it without help, a lot of help, and I could not have been luckier than to become one of Racer Ex's clients. He's the reason I've made it to where I am. The word "gratitude" just doesn't describe how I really feel.

It's very cool. I can't tell you how happy I was for everyone. I know how hard this sport can be and how hard folks worked for what they earned. People hand over a big piece of their lives to you and you hope to honor that trust. Seeing folks realize potential and come away smiling is all you can ask for.
I have a great group of folks, that's for sure.
