Thanks for comments / Kudos.
Training and racing at the track has improved my engine but more importantly my skill set. Without brakes and a free wheel, one develops great situational awareness. One has to read the pack at all times and be aware of other racers on the track. IMO, that is what makes Madison racers such great cyclists. Cav comes to mind. Even though we have a track very few racers take advantage of it. And MEA and I flew 400 miles to race and train at VSC.
One aspect I like about Racer Ex's picture is that is shows the steepness of the track. When we go around the track, we are perpendicular to the 45 degree banking but on the bike, it looks normal.

LOL. I'm probably the least hip person on the planet, and I don't ride track. I ride an FG with brakes on the road. Mostly it's my bike for just riding around, visiting friends, going to the pub etc. however, it is also useful for endurance rides - every half-decent hill becomes a strength workout - and it promotes souplesse.

Nice pic Hermes, thanks for that.
I was in a 98 because I'm not terribly together. Meant to put a 15 on the back and stuck a 14 on there instead. Then I forgot my track suitcase that had all my tools and gearing.

So that's the key? I'll never be a fixie rider, then.

Not sure if I'm happy that my teammate created video evidence of that ride. Seriously a lot of things for me to improve or at least do more consistently what I was doing right. I will say that 16 laps sure went by fast.

I thought there was more to like in the video than dislike and you did really well. We cannot expect to look like the international teams with one practice session. It is really hard to hold together a team for a max effort 4k. Jon and Kevin have been racing as a team for years.

Watched my wife take a W at the Woodbridge 11.2 mile ITT this AM in the Elite Cat 3/4. She rode her new Cervelo P3. She was the 2nd fastest woman out of all competitors all categories. It was really windy and all the racers did a great job of managing the course under tough conditions. 60+ is the new 30.
I came home and did a leg opener. Tomorrow is track racing.

I like the graphics as well.
She is 5' 4.5". She is similar to Mara Abbott, Amber Neben and Shelly Olds - smaller powerhouse women.

Great job by MEA! The 3rd place woman is going to have to move her saddle if she wants to race at nationals.
I need to raise my game quite a bit to be able to look like that.
I used to ride with Brandy on occasion and I see her once in a while on the road (she's in her car, I'm on my bike). In fact, she was the first person from bikeforum.net that I met in-person during a SoCal BF ride. Anyway, she broke up with the cyclist she was dating and married a non-cyclist and I believe she sold all of her bikes. Last I heard she'd taken up stand-up paddle boarding.
I need to raise my game quite a bit to be able to look like that.
Racer Ex is a close 2nd.
We all remember that thread unless one is dead below the belt. *I think I have her email address. *I should invite her to the Masters racing forum.
