Ditto that, Whiteknight and cdyer77. PM me to set up a ride. Bike Forums posters "guybeirhaus" and "dercola" are near Pottstown, and they are both good folks to ride with.

On the 25th of this month I plan to be at the opening of the new Birdsboro section of the Schuylkill River Trail behind the baseball field in Birdsboro. The ribbon-cutting is scheduled for 11:30 a.m. that day. I want to ride the trail down to the Montgomery County line to see what sort of a job they did on the trail. The trail from Gibraltar up to Brentwood has been resurfaced and made wider in sections. Washout problem areas were paved with asphalt.
My wife and I spent a few days trimming plants growing out over the trail or hanging down low enough to catch heads.
With the high price of gas were are reducing our rides on the trail out of Valley Forge and now the "Thun Trail" has been greatly improved and very close to home.

I just registered for this event... Commerce Bank Bike Philly.... they shut down all the streets, looks fun to me, a chance to ride around center city and see the sights without all the traffic. SHould also be a bit of a challenge as I haven't ridden in about 10 years (and I'm 21
) and I've never ridden 20 miles before. I've got my work cut out for me.

Thanks for letting me know about the Commerce Bank Bike Philly ride. I'm in for that. I just found out about the Tour de Shore too. Oh well maybe next year. I am doing the MS 150 City to Shore though.

No problem... I'm gonna work my tail off this winter and spring so I can do the Tour de Shore next year. It would be my first ride of that distance plus its a great cause that I'm interested in.

Hi All! I just stumbled in here from the commuting forum. I've got to go back a few pages and catchup on who's who...
Anyone located around the sw corner of our state? I'm primarily a commuter, do some mtb around Ohiopyle and climbing of the backroads of the Laurel Mts.

Lansdale roadie checking in here. I tend to ride anywhere there are roads. I get over to Frenchtown, NJ, up towards Easton, PA, down to the Art Museum in Philly, and everywhere in between. I've also been seen riding the knobbies in Wissahickon and French Creek State Park.

Just saying "hi!" Just started a month or so ago, I'm in the philly 'burbs (Main Line). Thinking about trying a ride around the Schuylkill River/Art Museum area in the coming weekends. Riding around in traffic is a serious pain.

I live just South of Uniontown w/ a commute of a whopping 1.5 mi.

I've been slumming on the MTB forum and been hitting the the trails at Quebec forest (google it, awesome singletrak) on the few nice days we've had this spring. I don't post too much, more like info gathering - alot of good advice and funny stories from this crowd....

Part time PA resident here (at least via property tax). We have a cabin along the Allegheny River near Emlenton. I love to ride on the local roads and hills, we don't have those kind of hills in Ohio near Cleveland. There is also paved rail trail (Justus Trail) right near our cabin that follows the river for over 30 miles that is a really nice. Wonderful state with great fishing, I did grow up in Ellwood City and went to college at the Rock so I am partial.
I'm also signed up to do the MonTour 77 mile Race in mid-May in Danville. Anyone else doing it or done it? Any advice?

Hi TechRyder; Yea the transfer pretty much killed the bike commuting. It would be about 28 miles one way but one road in particular Guys Run Road would be nasty. Blind curves, little or no shoulder in places and cars fly on that road (particularly downhill). I may experiemnt this summer with driving part way and biking part way. I just haven't fully explored all my options yet.
