Ah, some of my favorites. :) My standard ride up there is from an old club cue sheet that you can still get online, I think -- called the "Gunpowder Gasp" or "Prettyboy Partial Plunge." I usually start from the NCR Trail at Sparks (nice big port-a-pot there!) When I lived in Sparks, I would start from my house. I really hated having to move away. :(

I went out today with two friends, one of whom is riding the Seagull this year as his first century. His training plan called for a 53-mile day. I ended up with 69 miles -- rode from my house, met them at the airport, rode to Annapolis City Dock, then back home.

NoRacer, I didn't get any mercy from them, either! :) They were cranking along at a really good clip. He'll have no worries at the Seagull! I tried my best to keep up. I might have tried a little too hard -- the return climb back into Catonsville made me want to cry. :D

That Loch Raven loop is a favorite of mine. I sometimes just go back and forth a few times from Cromwell, below the dam and back up to Providence, maybe climb Providence, back down Loch Raven over the bridge, climb Morgan Mill, easy to get some good concentrated climbing in a short distance, though I'm not averaging 17mph.
I joined a group of guys that do a downtown ride every Sunday. They go from Rodgers Forge down through Roland Park, Druid Hill, which has some good bike paths now, down Falls to Maryland working our way out to Ft. McHenry, Fed Hill. I was skeptical of a downtown ride but it was fun.
Anybody doing the Bay Country century on Sunday?

Yesterday I was out on a ride with a good friend on river road. Man theirs a hill right after Esworthy that is just killer. I have been riding it on a normal basis and just its design kills me. Its between Esworthy and Senica if ur heading East.

I am riding with a couple of ladies who have never done this type of ride before (one did do it last weekend which is where the picture came from) and anyone is welcome to join us.

Happy Labor day weekend!

I am planning on doing this ride from my house on monday. Anyone wanting to join me is welcome.

I am slow, so if you are also slow, or want a relaxing ride it will be fun. If you like to go fast I will wave as you speed off into the distance :)

I plan on leaving early, but I am flexible. (if nobody ends up coming I will prolly hit the road around 5am, I like having a full day after a ride to enjoy the family).

Bay Country Century
 
Did the Bay Country 100 yesterday, took it easy for the most part, small ring seems to work best on the constant rollers there. Planning on doing both the CWC and Indian Head 100 next weekend, definitely will do 100 of the Indian, not sue but hopefully the whole 100 on Saturday.

Next Saturday looks like it is going to be warm for CWC. We are doing the metric. I'm sure my husband would like to do the full century but I think we're going to ride together (somewhat) and I think the hills would be too much for me on the full century.

My Monday ride

I intended on riding from Dundalk 21222 to the PA Line and back for about 90 miles, but as it turns out there are 2 old york roads on the left, one goes south and one goes north, so of course as my luck has it the first one is south and I didn't know that it was even there, so sure enough I take it, the road ends and I'm lost so I head on back home.

Notes:
1.Got chased by a dog on mountain road, luckily I was going down hill, dog was no where to be found while coming back UPHILL, thank god.
2.I saw over 12 people road biking on Mountain Rd, all waved and were going the oppisite direct as me.
3.While on Rt 40@43 going home I took the center lane at the light for safty reasons as right lane is ramp only and everyone cuts over at last second, some guy road behind me till I was able to get on shoulder, tooted his horn waved and had a bike rack, pretty cool.
4.I was low on water and stopped at a garage, I asked where his spickot was and if I could use it, the man said "come on inside I have good water" (deer park water cooler)

Cool ride, legs are sore, might do next weekend but this time go the right way on old york.

Long story short--been in Ocean City meeting up with folks (well, on one of the days) and riding as much as I could stand. Been dieting lately, so energy level isn't the best all of the time. I wanted to ride out to Berlin and/or Snow Hill, but never got there. Oh well... maybe next time.

You Dieting, you ride like 5000 miles per week you could eat pizza for every meal and still lose weight, My wife is getting on me to eat more, I'm below 170 now, 5 more pounds and I'll be the same as when we met almost 10 years ago.

Anyway have fun with the diet.

Once you get to a certain age, it doesn't seem to work that way anymore. :notamused: :cry:

But, I'm happy to say that I've already dropped 10 pounds (167 down to 157). I'd be happy with 7 more, bringing me to 150 pounds.

Who needs to shut it down anyway? Nervous energy from big trucks passing you on that bridge burns more calories. :twitchy:

None of you have met me yet so must be weird to see my posts popping up here. Maybe I'll meet some of you this weekend at the CWC if it's not completely hurricaned out, or the Indian Head on Sunday.

On the weight issue. I've been riding a good bit, 500 to 700 miles per month, not as much as some but pretty good with wife, kids, house, work, etc. I'm still at 205, heavy I know and I feel it on every climb. I don't feel that I'm eating that much, have tracked my diet with a journal, tried before breakfast rides to burn fat etc. still 205. I know my legs are bigger as jeans are tight around the thighs so I'm sure I traded some fat for muscle. Any tips? I saw an ad for a Hammer Nutrition product that is supposed to supress appetite without the stimulant that I definitely don't need.

I've spent the bulk of my summer riding on the loop at Montebello with other rides thrown in. I'm trying to get comfortable riding the roads again, Baltimore County is so beautiful, did the Bay Country 100 on Sat, 42 up in the county on Monday and a short 22 lunch ride yesterday.

There's safety in numbers, so if you want to get comfortable with the road, go out to the club rides.
