I am excited. They are building a new dj park with all the fixings. Lights, water sprayers, gaps, hips berms big jumps and little jumps. Heres a little preview

Wow, looks fun, do you know when its opening Mael?

And a berm is a sloped turn that if you get right, you can come out with more speed than what you went in with (I think)

i hope they get really good insurance and a really well written waiver.

a guy i know opened a skate park locally, had mandatory waivers and full insurance...
some kid got hurt, his dad was a lawyer, and managed to sue him despite all the precautions he thought he had taken. shut down the skate park for good.

same thing could happenn to this dj park if they dont make sure all their ducks are in a row.

super cool... they are so smooth, they look like bmx jumps. are there bigger one, or what. i would expect whistler to pump out some 20-30 ft gap jumps.

a) its canada, waivers don't work anyways (as do prenups...they are useless)
b) whistler does have insurance but generally the legal system applies responsibility on the person taking the chance. Its actually pretty rare here for someone to win a signifigant case. Gotta love canada, I hope we never become like the lawyer leeches in your country.
c) TroyLee - yes, where the back-o is, is the original dj park. Its improved quite a bit
d) dirtjump - thats what the mountain is for, this is a bmx style dj park. And whistler isn't about going huge, its about progressing. There are bigger gaps and drops elsewhere. I imagine the bigger section (where the back-o is) will get to be bmx jumps with maybe 15 to 20 ft gaps. Last years were about 10 ft or so...but the point to these is to get tonnes of air....not distance.

ok, cause all i can see is waist tall table tops and neck high doubles. kind of unrelated when i get my new fork.. im hitting this 20ft gap double seen here

the take off is about 10ft tall, you cant tell, because the road is elevated and slopes on both sides

hehe...they aren't waist high (the 1st table is actually lower, they get bigger by the 6th or 7th jump). The doubles are up to my head (maybe neck so 6ft and its the beginner area as far as I can tell). The old ones were 9 ft tallish and 9 ft gap. I imagine the back-o area will be similar bmx jumps but still a focus on the flow and rythm.... And really in whistler djing is only one part of the scene. The djers don't get much of the credit if thats all they are doing, about as much as skiing on rails only (pretty funny to hear the skiers rag on jibbers). Pro hos are pretty useless. The only ones who consistently dj are the bmxers, most of us mountain bikers go there when the mountain closes (or to watch the pros go off) and I guess in the summer with the lighting system we can jump until 5 am...that would be cool.

that jump you posted, thats a little less than the height the good jumpers were boosting off the big set in the old park. I am hoping that big hump before the back-o is the ramp. It 'looks' like it is going to be huge and fast. Can't wait to see derpack nail them
