Brakes and Parts

unofficial brake and parts thread.

Or if there's one already please link in.

I'll start with my personal question. What's the best bb5 brake pad brand?

I have no idea what makes a collection of opinions from strangers"official"

I like the Kool Stop 'organic' better than the original BB7, I guess the ones for the 5 would be better as well .

People (in this opinionated bunch) often just buy another caliper if they have the BB5.

It works better IMHO to have each thread be about one, specific question. Your question about Avid BB5 pads is a good thread topic. Then start another thread for whatever the next question is.

I suppose you could try some Kool Stop pads. They are a good brand.

Was your stopping power good-enough when the bike was new? Kool Stop is a good brand, but I don't think their pads will markedly increase the stopping power of a BB5 setup.
