fake suspension?

Hello i recently bought a mountainbike, it is very rusty but works fine. How ever the front suspension seems to be stuck. I unscrewed the top part to see if i could solve the problem. But it was completely empty when i was looking down with a flashlight.

Is there such thing as fake suspension just for looks?

This is the bike that i have https://imgur.com/w2gy8FS (pic is taken from google)
I can't seem to find any information about the bike but the name is RONIN FSSP PERFORMANCE BIKE

I once have some kind of cheap mountain bikes as well (when i was a kid.) and have the same system with the fork. it plays a bit but i dont know how they work. you should change it with something new btw.

Bikes: A steel framed 26" off road tourer from a manufacturer who thinks they are cool. Giant Anthem. Trek 720 Multiroad pub bike. 10 kids bikes all under 20". Assorted waifs and unfinished projects.

A lot of cheap forks have suspension only in one side. And then it may only be a coil spring that you can see down the middle of.

You most likely have a spring and elastometer on one side. If its not moving at all maybe youre seized up. Its kinda a stinky messy job to clean up a spring fork but you CAN do it if you really wanted i suppose
