Hi Guys!
I'm sorry to raise this question, but considering I'm quite confused with many terms people have been using lately ... What is the difference between MTB and XC, going further: What are the existing flavors of cycling now a days? Freeride, dirty jump, dual slalon, speed, downhill, etc. Could someone here give me a brief explanation on it? Is it something like MTB is at the top of the tree and all above mentioned styles (except speed) are the branches, is that is it?
Thank you all.

THIS BIKE'S 4 U !!!!
You pretty well answered your own question. All those you mentioned are just different variations of the sport of MountainBiking.... Each is pretty well self explanatory by their name, with the exception of "Freeride", which is usually riding across/up/down whatever happens to be available. XC (cross country) is probably the most popular type, at least with those people not in the larger cities.
You might want to search the Forums, as this question has been asked several times before....

For sure it's a very hard task to find a post on it, tons of pages to go through. Originally Posted by khuon
