Are you recommending a recreational rider jump right into a $2000 rig. Think before making posts like this.

Disruption... Posts which intend to disrupt the topic of conversation or steer the topic away from the focus of the forum and related news. Disruption can include harassment, multiple user profiles, multiple posting of the same post and posting completely off topic messages. Please do your best when it comes to grammar, punctuation and spelling. Consistent use of "AOL'ese" and "hAx0r" talk can be very disruptive

Hmmm..............lets see fella? Lets go back over my post, shall we?

To quote myself:

Well, I dont see any referance to anything about $2000 bikes, do you? Hmmm...I dont even see any referance to anything you somehow inferred. Maybe you should think about drinking some bleach, because I dont even know WTF youre talking about. I just want more to read than a bunch of crap about cheap bikes. Is that so bad?

Think before responding to posts like this

It's an on topic reply. So I'm ok there. And I certainly wouldn't call it any more more disruptive than the original post. I stand by my post.

Edit: CLEARLY I am not even remotely diruptive comparitively.

The "newbs" are posting about $500 bikes because thats the kind of bikes they are looking for.

They are probably overwhelmed with the amount of choices to be made and want a bit of help. They are trying to make an informed purchase and don't want to get ripped off. So they ask "what bike can I get for $350" etc. etc.

forum*rider hit it right on the head. There is no fault in asking for experienced help when shopping for an intro (or "crap") bike. There is plenty to research out on any bike purchase regardless of price point when you've never purchased a mtn bike. There are an overwhelming number of choices and it's tough to learn exactly what components are high-dollar items and what aren't that great just by looking at them and taking a quick spin around the LBS lot.

BurlySurly, I don't know what you consider a non-crap bike, nor do I care. Point is, the newbie posts are legit questions looking for legit answers. You may see them as clutter, but I assure you that your thread here contributed FAR less than any newbie post I've seen recently. If you don't like a topic, move on, and definitely don't make another thread just to moan about it.

I think he's frustrated with the fact that the $500 and under question is asked constantly on this board and the answers for the most part don't change. Perhaps a Sticky topic should be made.

This really doesn't deserve a reply but what the heck? It is a good skill in life to be able to see beyond your own perspective. You should learn it. It will serve you well regardless of where you go. Obviously you are bored with the questions on "$500 crap bikes." What about the hundreds of newbies who stroll in here wondering what the difference is between a Walmart bike and a LBS bike. That is probably a decent part of the traffic on this site.

I don't know the stats but I would say Walmart and other department stores outsell LBS's BIG TIME! Also the amount of money you spend on a bike don't mean crap. The more important question is, do you ride it? I have two $300 + bikes (Trek 4300's) and I have put over 3000 miles on them since last September. I bet there are a lot of people that have spent a lot more and ridden a lot less since then.

It looks like to me you just missed a Midol dose or maybe you are trolling but addressing newbie questions in a forum like this is probably the most important function that it serves.

Well.. I dont have any pics of broads, but i do ride a sub 500$ bike. Alot of these people are trying to get into the sport but were ( like myself) intimidated by the price of the mid range-high end bikes. Most people just see that there are cheaper bikes and want to make sure that the quality is ok. Is it frustrating, sure, but hey it brings people to the sport and thats never a bad thing.

Aolese is disruptive. To be honest I don't notice because the second I see any of it I will ignore the entire message. Not worth my time to translate child talk.

Ok I'll make sure to insult a large amount of posters by calling their bikes crap and then suggest someone drink bleach as that seems to be perfectly fine.

Holy **** is this ever stupid.

I counted the front page of the forum, 22 topics involving stuff already been covered. That includes, clipless, terms, bikes for 500 and under, new guys getting into biking, et al.

Hes not being rude, hes making a point that this forum is becoming kind of a joke. Instead of repeating the same question look through. You'll probably get all your answers questioned by using the search bar than getting people repeating the same stuff. If you say this forum is helping people go ahead. But there is more to biking than just the first bit.

A person has got to listen and look to really learn something. C'mon, any topics about other stuff than a $500 dollar bike? Count how many times thats been asked on the front page

Burly you are the fricking man I tell you what. I was going to post the exact same thing but never got around to it. This site has really gone to hell lately with all the stupid **** about the same thing over and over and the general population of idiots. Something really has to change around here otherwise....**********?? Joe is a good guy and I would hate for his site to go to the junk pile......joe is going to have to start banning stupid people or maybe have a "email for registration" type thing. I'd be glad to be on the jury that selects people that get to register!

Knock, Knock! Anyone home? This is NOT ABOUT YOU! This is not reservations only, this is a "come and go party." So what if you have read something more than once. There are hundreds if not more people that land on this site every day. Many of them have never been here before!!!!

What part of this are you not getting? OK. Let me break it down for ya. Read this outloud........" I AM WE TODD DID." Say it again " I AM WE TODD DID!" Maybe that will help.

Unbelievable!

1. The rules say "consistent use". 2 words out of 14 is not consistent, especially if you consider that I've never posted a bit of it before and my post count must be near 100.

2. It was a joke. And a far better one than the original poster could muster. My comment was absolutely harmless and even included a suggestion on fixing his complaint!

3. You don't "care about the bikes" on a bike forum but "1337 speak" is something you care about? That's just silly. Yet call somebody elses bike "crap" and you're doing fine.

What really pisses me off abou this is that I did not call many members bikes "crap" nor did I suggest another member of the forum "drink bleach" when I was 100% in error! Yet here I am being moderated?! For "l337" and j00?! That is assinine!! I have thousands of posts on various forums and many of those posts have been made as a moderator. This has to be the worst example of moderation I have seen on an Internet forum in almost a decade of Internet experience! I said nothing out of line with the rules of this forum and comparitive to the original post and 5th post I'm downright angelic.

This is moronic.

I was thinking about this the other day as well. These kind of questions seem to pick up in the summer months as more people get out and start to ride. I think a sticky covering new bikes would be a good idea. Maybe we could create one listing all popular bikes broken into different price points. We could have a brief poll voting on bikes in each class and then list them in order of popularity. What do the mods think?

Sure there are tons of posts out there covering "cheap" bikes, but I remember what it was like to be new to biking and have no idea what people were talking about. I would search before I asked a question, but I really didn't know what to search for and it seemed my question was new anyway.

Peter, keep in mind that each person has their own uses and we certainly don't all fit best in the same sub-$500 bike. It's not like each thread about a lower-end bike is the exact same question. And Peter, he WAS being rude...unless I misinterpreted that I ride a crap bike and should go drink bleach.

I spend a lot of time on other forums, corvetteforum.com in particular. People buy new cars all the time and come to ask what intake or exhaust is best almost daily as well. You can either link them to a helpful thread or whine about it, and whining about it won't stop the same question from being asked tomorrow by another new owner.

Raiyn had a good idea about the sticky, but even at that people will still ask the same questions (maybe less often), or whine about too many stickys. 1337 isn't my cup of tea either, but it really doesn't bother me, and ions has been one of the most open informative and welcoming members here with my numerous questions.

Soooo, in the end you can either just not post at all on newbie threads if you have thin skin like Burly and Extreme Biker, or just be as helpful as you can. Threads like this just waste all of our time.
