Please Help! ASAP

I am VERY new to MTB's. I looked at a couple of bikes online and found a Haro V3. I really don't care ( Yet ) about the extras I just need something that if I decide to go a little crazy I can't brake it. So here is the question should I get this bike or the Marin Hawk Hill? The Haro is 350 and the Marin is on sale for 400. Also is Haro a crappy bike? I'm only asking because I really couldn't find anything on them in here. Thakns for any response!!

Bikes: Iron Horse Rogue / Mongoose ALD Pro / Fuji Sunfire

The Hawk Hill looks to be a much better bike than the Haro so if I had to chose between those two, that's the one I'd take.

I don't think Haros are crappy bikes but I was let down quite a bit with the V4 (a bike which I was considering).

Have you checked out the offerings of GT, Giant, Trek and such? Also have a look at Ironhorse and Mongoose as they tend to be a great bang for the buck.

If you don't mind spending a bit more money then have a look at this:

I just bought one of these and for the money I haven't found anything that will touch it.

Bikes: Iron Horse Axion; Other box store stuff

My wife has a Haro V-1 which I recently did a 200Km with lots of technical trails on a weekend.
I could out do the larger FS bikes I think because of the light weight and good geometry. That or I am better than I thought. LOL
I think that any company that is willing to advertise the components on their website is not a crappy bike. I liked my wife’s Haro so much better then my $1050 Brodie Bandit that I think I will buy a V-4 next year. I suppose that it could be broken but I think I will break before it does.

Bikes: Kona Kikapu/hoss deluxe mix, 1950's Malvern Star gent 28" turned into a stealth commuter with drums and a three speed.

I've been happy with my V3, the spec is quite different to US spec though.
