Decided to go w/ this.......ORDERING on Monday :)

I went to my LBs and tried a few bikes. Another bike shop offered me a 05 blue specialized hard rock sport disc for $350 ($440 originally). I really like the base model better, as i rode a red disc today. I am ordering a black 2006 specialized hardrock in an XL (21"). I like the color better and the feel of the bike, so that made my decision. Even though it is $360 for less of a bike really.

heres a pic......

Nice.

Something about the Rockhopper and Hardrock frame geometries just seem to fit me perfectly. So much so that I have built up a Rockhopper Comp to XT/XTR levels, and a recently purchased Ebay Rockhopper frame to the same level. Crazy? Maybe, but I have yet to find another hardtail frame/bike that makes me go "ahhhhhhhhh....." when I sit on it.

Rockhopper w/ XTR... wow.

I had a Hardrock that I upgraded w/ a Fox fork which was easily as much as the bike already. I think that was a nOOb mistake.

That'll be a fun bike for sure! You should probably upgrade the fork someday. Just slam the seat all the way down and you're ready to roll!

Well, it's a done deal now.......I put 20% down on the bike today ($72) and will pay the rest in 5-7 business days when the bike is ready for pick-up. They kept on trying to sell me the 19", but I rode both again and decided to go with the 21" XL frame in the new matte black. They had 2 2005 silver XL's there but they didn't want to deal on them, so I'll let them sit there and order in a 06 black for $9 more (my 1st choice anyways). I said I would take the 05 silver today for $300, but they wouldn't do it. Anyways, when I get the bike I will have 3 years of free maintenance/tune-ups through the bike shop.
