tire valve question

hi

yesterday, (sunday), my wife and i went for a longish ride, around 41 kilometers. about 12-15 kilometers out of that was this old dried riverbed which was sort of technical in places but otherwise still a very fun trail with rocks and roots, the rest was basically road riding, but bothways (going and coming to and from the riverbed) was all major major uphill so man trust me that bit was no easy riding, but we will be doing it again this coming sunday. we are hoping to do a long trip next year august hopefully (800 kilometers) so we ride quite a bit whether it is road or trail. gradually i am beginning to find nice off roads to ride as we keep exploring so that is fun, i was getting tired of that tough little cow trail, even though i still need to ride it complete without getting off the bike!

anyway, the thing is that her wheels accept schrader valves, mine presta. we dont have a minipump on her bike yet because she is mostly riding with me and i have one that serves both types of valves. yesterday though i think something went wrong with the schraeder part of my pump. for some reason no matter how much i pumped the tyre would not fill anymore than a specific amount of air. i was pumping for over 45 minutes man, i think with every stroke a little air leaks out and a little goes into the tyre and as the tyre starts filling up less and less air goes in and more leaks out. so anyway what i did at the end of it was put my extra presta tube in her tyre. i cannot go back to the bikeshop for atleast 2-3 weeks and we do ride a lot even during the week whether it is a road ride to the market or just a ride to find some trails or practise uphill climbing so what i was thinking was to change the tube in her other tyre as well so when we go out we are safe from flats. however, since the hole on her wheelset that accepts the tube valve is intended for schraeder types, when i put in a presta type tube it sort of is a loose fit. i just wanted to ask if this was a problem? the valve sort of wobbles when i jiggle it with my fingers. much more than the valves on my bike. is this a problem? we do quite a lot of riding and we do a lot of uphill and some really rocky climbing sections where we need to pedal hard so i am wondering if all that pressure will sooner or later break that valve off? because if it will then i need to make special arrangements to go to the bike shop and buy me a nice pump which will be a pain because ill have to rent a van, otherwise i will just buy presta tubes locally and make do with those until i can go get the pump at my own leisure, probably in a months time when my new brakes arrive.

okay then now, thats it, sorry for the rant!

So I think in all that the question was is it ok to use a presta valve on a schraeder rim? Yes, its fine, I do on my commuter and my freeride bike.
