Took my first ride on my new (old) Gary Fisher Hoo Koo E Koo. Previous bike was a Target special Schwinn S60, and by comparison, even though the Fisher is from 2001 and has seen many miles from its previous owner, it's like night and day.

Didn't take on anything too intense, and most of the trails near me are basically just graveled fire roads, but I put in about 10 miles just to get a feel for the new bike, and I love it. It's so light by comparison, and so much more responsive. I'm starting to think I might be getting a bit addicted to this. It's just a shame I live in Wisconsin, and will have very limited option in terms of riding when the snow flies.

Well today I rode about 15 miles with my brand new Trek 4300 Disc. The only problem is that i rode all the trails where I live. So I'm essentially out of riding places. Crap. Well I guess I will have to be the king of my trails on Strava! Hahah. Whateves.
Cole.

Picking the most disgustingly nasty humid day out of the last few to do a long hard ride = S-M-R-T!

Been struck by a case of the lazies, haven't ridden too much this month :/ . Went for a spin the other day though, and winter's in the air. It seemed like a had just started pedaling and the sun was already going down. The chill won't be coming for a while yet 'round these parts, but I'm always happy when winter rolls around, I hate summer weather! I'm also fiddling with seat adjustment. It wasn't terrible before, but I think it could be better. Leveled & raised it a tad more, we'll see how that goes.

Good thing is that it's been a bit rainy lately and there has usually been some clouds to protect me from Mr. Sun's rays. Nice breezes, too.

Haven't been this way for a long while, it's pretty sandy & has some good ruts going where water has washed the path away.

Oh, and a good car encouter. On the way home a car waited on a cross street for me to pass, even though I was still quite a bit away and they had plenty of time & space to make their turn onto my street. My bar lights are cheapies, but maybe they thought I just was a slow motorcycle at first or something. And they hung back and didn't pass me as we were coming to a stop sign. :thumb:

Shared the path with some little friends today. There were 2 and I rode by at first thinking "That's some really fat worms!". Then the lightbulb went off a few seconds later and I went back to check 'em out.

Accidently startled one.

Few minutes later he uncurled and carried on with important millipede business.

I had a few days off so headed to the mountains near Grants, NM for some camping and riding - had a blast.

Several ride reports and lots of photos on my blog. The El Malpais ride (lava flows) was especially peaceful and beautiful!! Following photos are from that ride.

I guarantee you my wife is better than yourzzz!

Me: I'm on my way home.
Wife: Did ya have a good ride?
Me: Ya. I wiped out again.
Wife: Is your bike okay?

Lord, thanks for understanding my passion and giving me a wife who supports it. :thumbsmiley:

Friday marked my final day sitting on lifts for this year (unless I get to AngelFire next week), so I was forced to pedal/HaB y-day.
It was ruff, but good.

A great day on Mt. Spokane yestderday with friends. Mt Spokane is not a big-'un - - technically, none of it is above treeline. But there's a nice trail network, with everything from buff singletrack to gnarly, rock-strewn pounders. Bone-dry conditions meant a LOT of dust but it was still a ton of fun.

I'd missed getting up there all summer; so I jumped at the chance to do some quality shuttling. Runs down are a good 20+ minutes, depending on what exit-point you pick. Took some GoPro footage; will try to get an edit done later this week and post it up.

The mountain is a State Park, so there's paved road all the way to the top. At the trailhead:

Mid-afternoon beer break at the bottom. Andy (right) is our resident mountain man. Scott tries his best Brian Lopes imitation but is too pale and blinds the judges.

Back to the lowlands (sadly) at the close of a full day. Wildfire smoke is blanketing Eastern WA this fall, making for eerie sunsets and sunrises.

Mmmmm. Green's is sooooo fun. I've only done the "regual" Monarch once, and far prefer Greens, Fooses, and Agate. Good ****.

True dat scrubs! I think I've found a new favorite.

I did my first ride since march today. I took my new bike out for it's maiden voyage and man it was awesome. I don't know what they did to the bike or was it the combination of the new geometry and hadly hub in the back of the bike but it climbed like a beast. At this point I'm beyond out of shape and I only stopped once during my 7 mile local loop. I did couple small jumps (no more than 3') and the way bike soaked up the landing was amazing. I've had couple of stumpjumpers in the recent past and these two bikes are world apart.

I'm glad I've made the switch. :D
