I'll be waiting.

I got out into Pisgah for some fun in the sun today. It was 60f and awesome. I took my time and just enjoyed the day. I just cut out a nasty in grown toenail so what should have been 2 miles of rocky rooty, downhill fun turned out to be crazy painful but I was still out riding. It was all good......sorta. I snagged a few lame pics but here they are........

I hate you...do you want to see pics of the mountain trails around here?

Finally got to ride again today. After 8" of snow about 3 or 4 days ago I drove for 2 hrs to someplace dry and rode some nice trails that I don't get to ride very often. Went out at about 8 am when it was 30 degrees, rode til about noon when it was up to 59 and feeling AWESOME!!!
Had a sweet 2 wheel drift down a muddy turn on a hill. Sketchy but fun when I realized I was going to live through it. :) Dropped my chain once, fixed the problem. Had the trails all to myself and loved it. Made two of the toughest hills out there without putting a foot down... granted the second was EXTREMELY slow and there was a lot of grunting but I made it. All around a great ride. Nice to have some time alone on the trails and get to know my bike again. Nasty weather lately combined with college has kept me off the bike for a while. |

As always :thumb:

I'm pretty serious about getting Scrub his own sticky thread.

Scrub is out of his mind...........I'm pretty sure of it.

I did get a nice snowshoe hike around the place today, though. |
So, I gimped today. I realized that there are some things I just won't do clipless.
Okay, so I went to the local college campus and was looking for junk to jump off...I found this one place that was nearly perfect small 3.5-4' drop to about 35-40 degree tranny. There was a catch. The platform was a wall that was about 10-12" wide which is no biggie...around 2-3' bail-out drop to slope on the right. The thing that really made me punk out was the left side of the wall. 12' drop to jagged mess of steel heating and cooling units. If I were sporting platforms, I'd probably have done it, but for some reason...running the Candy's made me quit. Just the thought of falling head first / back first on to jagged corners of steel crap...landing me in the hospital (if I'm lucky) and possibly paralyzed...putting my family in jeapordy made me say "Self, just go jump off the other wall. I know it's smaller, but at least there's no chance of you killing yourself." As I stood there straddling my bike contemplating the next move...a small gust of wind came along blowing the direction of the "nasty side". So I jumped off a different 18" wide wall that was the equivalent of a "bunny slope" and then launched off a hill at the end of it. Still though...I'd have done it on flats. KS sux (no terrain that's nicely set up for drops) |
PS...I wore my helmet today, Junkyard.
|
Took out the mountain bike for a few hours on the road today. The local trails still have to much snow. O'le Dminor lives up em them hills some where.

Just got in from a nice long ride, the first on the Juicys. I reallly like the smooth operation and the great modulation but it seems they dont quite have the stopping power of my old BB7s.I have to sqeeze the levers harder to get the same results. It's not that big of a change but it will take a few rides to get the feel for them.

yesterday afternoon. wifey and i went to the local spot - she ran, i rode.

114 mile road ride today, completely unplanned, not supported. Left at 6:30 am and finished up at 2:30 pm.
|
It seems that my longest rides are the ones where I am just planning to ride around the neighborhood and dont have anything other than whats in my saddle bag.

Freeze/thaw dynamics are unbelievable in this area. Went out for a ride sat expecting a mud bath. Instead it was dry enough that there was dust in a lot of places. Went back Sunday and it's soupy just about every where.

After the weather being all funky on top of being super busy I finally got out to the trails to day. We got a late start so the sun was already starting to set by the time we got out there and then a good chunk of the trail was way to muddy to ride. When up on the rail to trail and headed back. I wiped out trying to avoid mud and ended up hitting a big root buried under leaves. I was laughing as I went up and over the handle bars and I slid upside down in the mud for a few feet on my shoulder. A friend following close behind had to stop because he was laughing so hard at the face i was making. All in all it was a great ride.

Lrt?
