both are awesome pedals,
i like the fact that you can change out the (bash plate?) or whatever on the mallet c/m's
one has larger spikes and one has smaller spikes
its really your decision
both are awesome pedals
good luck

the Time Atac is great if where you ride gets muddy

What kind of pedal did you have that broke?

Do you ride with clipless pedal shoes, or just regular shoes?

I use regular shoes, and these pedals http://www.nashbar.com/profile.cfm?sku=8036

with strapless ('mini') toe clips. http://www.nashbar.com/profile.cfm?sku=8044

NEVER ride toe clips, they are the most dangerous thing EVER!

Huh?

Those things are deadly, just ask Raiyn or KonaRider.

I've been riding with clips and straps for 17 years now. I'm not dead.

You do the math.

Well, I suppose you're a lucky one. I wouldn't and would NEVER suggest someone trail ride with clips and straps, that's just asking for it.

I agree on the straps. That's why I use strapless toe clips. Even easier to get in and out of than clipless. Less expensive, more durable, no special shoes required. Same ability to generate power through the whole 360° of the pedal stroke. I've never ever come close to horizontal trackstanding. YMMV.

I have a feeling the OP was just riding plastic platforms and probably doesn't want anything fancy or expensive. Just some decent, inexpensive platform pedals that won't fall apart on him. Just a hunch, though, until he responds.

Well my pedal has a no brand. I got it with the bike and i got it busted so im going to buy a new pedal

budster 12-26-05 10:41 AM

OK. So the pedal that broke looked something like this?

http://www.anglocycle.com/imgs/pedal7.gif

Probably made out of plastic?

I recommend you get pedals made out of metal, like this:

or even like this:

They won't cost much more than plastic pedals, and they will last a lot longer.

Do you have a bike shop nearby? If you can, take the busted pedal with you to the shop, so you are sure to buy the right size pedal.

correct me if Im wrong, but I think you will have to buy a new SET and not just 1. if its platforms go with the above mentioned. if its clipless go with ATACS ( any will do you fine)unless you are running SPD cleats, then go with a clone of the Shimanos if $ is your biggest concern

hehe, i bought a new pedal its made out of aluminium and yet still i dont know what brand it is but i know that they copy the shape of SRAM Truvativ Hussefelt pedals and it only costs RM68 (Ringgit Malaysia)

If you don't wear any shin pads DO NOT GET THOSE PEDALS! I used to ride with those pedals without shin pads if you slip you can say good buy to 1/3 or the skin on your shin. Trust me.

I do agree to get metal pedals because they will last longer but I would go for something more like this:

You can probably pick up something like this for about $20 at your LBS.

That'd be about $18 US. Not bad. Now ride! Ride! :D

That's a good point about the shins.

I use strapless toe clips and I haven't slipped yet. But it's probably just a matter of time....

Asking for what?

I've ridden with a number of folks that run clips and straps. I call them the Toeclip Mafia. They're very good technical riders, up and down.

I have a problem, I cant take out my old left pedal from the crank. Need help here.

bruiser2 12-27-05 10:24 PM

Why can't you take it out? Is it that you dont have a 15mm wrench small enough to fit in or its just too tight for you?

It's reverse threaded. Turn clockwise to loosen.
