Im buying a new bike. I has to be steel, steel is real.
I want something thats bomb proof and that i can turn around and do some trials on.
I'm an Urban and single track rider, and i want to know if the P.2 Cr-mo is capable of both trials and drops. I'm worried about the leverage and weight.
Does anybody ever trial on a dirt juimper?

Talk to Bob, the owner, he's got serious urban and trials skills, better than most of your options in fairfield, everybody is a roadie or XC.

Naw Im in ****ing Fairfield Of California. Yeah, nice bikes, serriously badass, but i couldn't trust myself to not go over the handle bars while mountain biking.

are you doing competitive trials?
if you're not, then the p2 is probably fine.

No im pretty much beggining, and if you say the p.2 will be alright, ill beleive you.
I guess its probably most wise to just test the bike out b4 hand.

i suggest a Norco Evolve...26 inch stock trials bike....good stuff, built in Canada, tough as nails...

First off, you'd probably be best off getting a Giant STP, since it is a bit more trials friendly. Second Steel isn't real smart for trials.

steel, specificly the p.2 cromo is very heavy. an ideal trials bike would be light and strong

I have a Monty Trials and a P2.
The frame on the Alu P2 is close to a trials bike but the stock gearing
is way too high. Also, disks arent really ideal in trials stuff........

haha, ya its not the perfect trail bike but it can be done, one of my buddies has one and he rides with me on dh trails, and i ride trials with my DH bike(basic trials/urban)

don't get an evolve, i've heard from many sources that it is utter crap, and the frame is weaksauce.

Seat: TRIALS SEAT
Cassette: TRIALS CASSETTE
Stem: TRIALS stem, most trials riders have an extra LONG stem for trials riding.

These parts are MEANT for TRIALS. They're not regular mountain bike parts.

The evolve is a great bike for a beginner in trials. I have a friend who bought an evolve last august, he totally loves it and wouldn't rather anything else. He rides hard and hasn't broken anything yet.

The P.2 Cromo would be utter crap for Trials riding. It's going to be heavy as hell, and chain guides usually slow down the reaction time of pedal strokes, so that would also make trials riding hard on it. I ride some trials on my Bruiser 2, it's a big frame but weighs very little. I just learned to pedal hop about a week ago.

The P2 cromo is a dirt jumping bike, not trials. Get a regular P2 and that might be somewhat better for trials.

I ride a 2003 p.2 (the regular model) and it's fine for what I want to do, just like you. Some trail riding, dj'ing and some trials. The p.2 cromo has some short chainstays (good!) for what you wanna do. I don't know what a steel frame will do for you though. And like one of the previous posts, look at a Giant STP...oooo...that will probably be my next hardtail...great bike.
