hayes versus avid
I have a pair of 8 inch hayes hfx HDs and a 7 inch juicy 7 (front or back). I have a downhill and a an urban/freeride/dirt jump hardtail.
I need to figure out which brakes I put where and what size (I am buying a new juicy seven, front or rear in 8 or 6 inch). I want to the pairs together. I want to put the better brekes on my DH bike. Everybody I talked to said that the hayes were better for raw stopping power, but the avids have better modulation and adjustability. I'm not sure which brake would be better for which bike.
Options:
A:Keep the hayes on the DH, put the 7 inch juicy up front on the hardtail and buy a new 6 inch for the rear.
B: Same as above, but get a 7 inch for the rear of the hardtail
C:Keep the hayes on the DH, put the 7 inch juicy in the back on the hardtail and buy a new 8 inch for the front
D: put the 7 inch juicy in the rear of my DH and buy a new 8 inch for front, and put the hayes on my hardtail
E: same as above but run dual 7 inch juicys on the DH
F:buy adapters and and a 6 inch juicy seven, run the juicy sevens on the hayes 8 inch rotors w/ adapters and then have dual 6 inch hayes on hardtail
G:run the 7 inch juicy seven in the rear of my DH, buy a 6 inch juicy seven and adapter, put that on the front 8 inch rotor of DH then run and 8 inch hayes up front and 6 inch in the rear of my hardtail
I know this is confusing, but I cant figure it out for my self. If one of the combos is too complicated I can re word, or if you have a better one, do suggest it. Thanks for the input!
