funny encounter...

I was riding on our local nature trail today... Its for bikes & peds, no motors. So, I was riding along very slow, probley about 7-8mph(didn't look at comp.), then I hear/see these 3 young men(18-20) on very rattley OLD 20in bmx-wannabe bikes, they where have fun I'm sure, they where going about 16mph by my guess. As time passes by, I decide to jump on it, they where out of site already, but I cought them when my cyclocomp hit 20.9mph, I look back and see them trying to keep up, they can't do it. But when we all slowed down at the trail head that ended at the mall they said Hi and didn't have there ego hurt, haha.

Well, I felt like riding a cheesy story, but it is true. lol

I saw a kid on a tricycle the other day, she couldn't believe how fast I was. I stopped and gave her my autograph and then she flipped me off. The nerve of the little punk, I showed her though. I knocked her over and stole her little pink tricycle. That'll teach that little punk to respect my supernatural ability!

Those little kids just think they are so special, most of them don't even wave!

I hate it when little kids come up and ask me if I can do a backflip. WTF? I just did a quarter mile manual or hopped over a bench. What did they do? nothin'. That's why I ask little punks first if THEY can do a backflip. It's fun to make fun of people when they don't even know it.

And it's really fun leaving hot shots in the dust on my 55lb Scream out on the trail. It's best that people ride without their egos, that way when they get their arse handed to them in which ever riding style they choose, they don't look stooopid.

speaking of underdogs, there was a guy on an X-mart mongoose full suspension bike, and he started climbing a hil right behind a guy decked out in full race gear, nice Scott hardtail bike and clips. So the guy on the x-mart passes him up on the climb, but the XC lookin dude was cool about it, he moved aside and said hey to the guy it was cool. Best part the guy on the X-mart bike was wearing a mickeymouse t shirt, jeans and like mountain man boots, you know the calf high boots made of leather with tassles hanging off of em, and had this grizzly beard, looked kind of like a mountain man it was sweet. As a note, the guy XC gear was a really good climber too made me feel even worse about my climbing skills

The only reason you passed them is because they were probably on the 60th mile of a century....if this story is even true.

haha, yea, egos on bikes = stupid. It was all in good fun.

It just goes to show, it's not what you ride, it's how you ride.

Or, y'know, they were spinning in granny gear when I was mashing in my only gear.

Doesnt give them a reason to be pricks and flip me off.

My grandpa always tells me stories of him (65) on his recumbant, burning 30 year old full on roadies, up hills. He says when he passes them, he always gives a nice wave and says hi, but they never respond.....

Additionally, people, don't believe every ole yarn that Grandpa tells you, it just makes you look even more hopelessly naive. Especially if it concerns a 'bent pilot climbing faster than "full on" roadies.

I get this a lot too, typically when I'm downtown, and kids are on field trips. There are the ones that say "wow, your good mister.. are you pro?" then naturally you lie to them... (haha j/k)
Then you got the punk kids that are wearing MX jerseys, and stand their like their tough ****, and say... "do a back flip off the stairs"

It really gets me when I'm riding my trial bike and dosent look like anything most people, let alone kids have ever seen before. The backflip question... jesus.

Since the X-Games, kids/ (some) people have this image in their minds that its difinitive for riders to pull off a back-flip. Id probley learn this skill, if I had a foam pit in my back yard. Dosent look all that tough, just the risk factor of breaking your neck and never riding again.... sounds fun.

Oh yeah Hank... Suck on this!

Theres a cut on my finger... WTF!
