it would help if you mention the parts you have the parts you need, and what do you ride? You said it's not much singletrack or DH, sounds like you need a Hybrid

No suspension = chromoly frame and fork.
My old steel bike weighs maybe 22 lbs.
I think newer chromoly bikes (mtb), tend to be overbuilt, heavy frames.
Why I recommend steel = chromo flexes, and sucks up shock.
Suspension is not needed.
AL cannot flex without fatique, needs shocks.

Second is weight\versus strength -never compromise strength for weight.
I wouldn't ride an ultralight frame -'cept for a race (I don't.)

I did run the Ritchey around 19 lbs and it was pretty scary downhill.
The rear was all over the place.
22 or whatever it weighs now is perfect.

Or you could try to be less greedy. That's why I have a 24-speed mountain bike , not 27 .

Anybody know what a Piranha weighs probably about 35lbs?
My Pirahna was 31 or 32 lbs I believe when I got it. Not terribly accurate since I used the scale method but not a terrible weight for the price I don't think.
