Leader bikes?
I know that this thread is better suited in the 'touring' section, but since I'm refering to a mountain frame, it seems equally apropriate to post it here. I've been looking at frames for a touring build-up, and I have some parts laying around, one of which is a set of Hayes disc brakes... so I'm leaning towards a frame that's disc compatable. I think that the stopping power with a heavy load and in possibly wet conditions outweighs the added weight of the brakes. Anyways, to get to the point, I've been looking at aluminum frames by "Leader", and I know they aren't top notch, but I'm also pretty sure I don't need anything too nuts to tour with... as long as I can strap a few racks to it. How do you guys feel about "leader" bikes?

But sorry Elton, I have no experience with Leader frames! I'm sure someone here has, though.

I have a Leader road frame on my training bike. No problems at all. A friend of mine uses one of their MTB aluminum hardtails and he has no problems either.
Only thing I'd keep in mind is that you will need to have the headseat reamed and the BB faced and chased, although the site may claim it's done at the factory. Also, chances are the frame uses an integrated headset, so don't plan on using one from your current bike unless you are sure it will work.

I'm only bringing this up because it will be a little extra cost at your local shop. Of course, you could probably get away without any of this, but all of the bearings will last much longer with all of this done properly.

There have been a few Leaders bought and ridden in the road cycling section. You might want to check down there. They seem like they have a decent following and plenty of people have reported enjoying them.
