angry LBS owner??
So I went to a local bike shop the other day that I haven't been to in about 15 years. I didn't have very good thoughts of this particular shop to begin with, but all I wanted was a pair of new socks.
So in I go. And there he is. Just as I remember a sniveling whiny guy. Complaining that business isn't good, that roadbiking is "DEAD", and so on. What a jerk.
To top it off he didn't even have a single pair of socks in the entire store....he had a bunch of NOS 1996 Rock Shox, and some old school ControlStix bar ends. everything else SUCKED!!! He carries FUJI, RALEIGH and some stupid ass recumbents.
I will never step foot into that place again. Somebody needs to remind this guy that he OWNS A GOD DAMNED bike Shop!!! I think I would be the happiest dude on the planet owning a bike shop......
............maybe he wants to sell it to me.

Bikes: Bike list is not a resume. Nobody cares.
He must have been one of those hapless guys who did not realize that, in order to make a fortune in the bike biz, you need to begin with two.

He's been in business for more than 15 years. Tells me he's doing something right.
But you're right, he sucks!

That LBS owner sure has a lot of nerve! To not stock the item that you wanted ....how is he supposed to stay in business if he doesn't have socks for a loyal customer that come in every few years for a minor purchase like you**********

Here is the same situation from the point of view of the LBS guy....
LBSguy: Oh crap here comes that dork who shops for a energy bar or a pair of socks every couple of years and then complains about how we don't have the right kind of energy bars or snacks.
"Yes sir...how can I help you today?
rushguy: (looking around the store)
Please don't tell me you don't have any socks...what kind of a bike shop doesn't have socks?

I don't even think the bike shop I go to sells socks. Who goes to a bike shop to buy socks? I was just in there the other day to get some headset spacers and my trek disc adapter, and I don't even go onto the clothing side. The bike side with the SC, and brand new Ellsworth bikes is what's got my eye

You've got to see a bike shop or in fact any outdoor gear shop over here in Korea. Over here appearance is first, sport is second. Some bike shops and hiking shops are more fashion/bling shops than anything.
Sure they have the usual forks, frames, bits and pieces but usually very heavy on the Titanium or Carbon side of things. One shop I went to is over half clothing racks and shelves. That's a lot of spandex in one room. Not cheap stuff either. I had to search really hard to find a pair of shorts for less than $100.
Even my tiny LBS is stocking the New (Titus??) carbon/titanium frame for $7500 and believe me he will have no trouble selling it. The funny thing is, most riders over here don't even touch the dirt with their bikes. Maybe a fire road once in a while.
It is VERY common to see people on MOOTS or SEVEN frames with carbon wheelsets over here.
Point : If a bike shop doesn't have socks, it probably won't last long.

IMBA. Pay for a membership level that is $40 or higher and get a pair of socks.
