Wow this thread took of twice as fast as the one that got deleted.

I personally believe that some threads like the one recently post are needed. Hell bike forums would sure get old answering question after question, and many member would therefor leave. I can clearly see that bikeforums is in need of new member through many of the posts made my some of the mods, hell just look at Expat's signature.

Um, most of the mods are taking that sig. It's Joe's. New members are always welcome. Troublemakers are not.

This forum wouldn't be as fun without the drama, but I'll admit that at times it can get out of hand and may discourage newcomers. I know there are a few here that try to answer newbie questions so as long as we take the time to answer some of the newbie questions every once in a while, I'm sure it will all balance out in the end.

And who's this Pete guy everyone's talking about?

Bikes: Bike list is not a resume. Nobody cares.

Oh, let's not go there, Santiago. That's starting to name names again. I'll echo something that mikejo mentioned (waaayyy back on page one ) - - I still feel like an interloping outsider on this forum sometimes and I've been here long enough to know better and not take things too personally.

I'm continually amazed by the questions asked here - - things that I take for granted - - and it's real easy sometimes to think "huh? you've got to be kidding me." But their questions are genuine and really deserve genuine answers. I'm glad the mods are trying to make things more 'newbie friendly.'

There's a line between drama and looking for trouble. That line is divided by a glass wall. Some people like to throw stones at the wall and see how big of one it takes to break it. Others shoot the wall with a cannon. And yet others can see the other side of the line and realize it's not a place that they need to go to. Guess which one we'd rather have around?

hint: mods hate picking up shattered glass.

Ummm, D? I think if you had mixed in a few more metaphors you might have made it easier to understand. lol

Even the mods are entertaining here.

Bikes: Trek 6500 w/ stuff

there are 3 kinds of people in the world
people that make thinks happen
people that watch things happen
and people who wonder what happened
now...... what happened?

It was funny when you posted in it though, no?

I didn't see any instances in that thread where anyone was made fun of for posting a well-thought out, well researched question. It seems that those are the types of new members that it would be beneficial to acquire and retain.

Yes, I thought it was funny as well and I am just as guilty as anyone else. However, having a funny thread at other member's expense isn't something we should strive for. Now, having fun within a thread where everyone can see it's just plain fun, that's another story.
