Sometimes it's a good thing to keep a good relationship with former boss'. He somehow found the same model of sidekick that I had that was stolen, bought it without hesitation. Only problem was that there was a nice big scratch along the downtube and being that I don't like having similar colors in such a close span decided to paint it before assembling it. Had the frame yesterday and had the excuse to build it finally due to finding a crack in the front triangle of the fisher. I think I'm going to have to get a Fox Vanilla for it. Where the red, not so straight line lays is where the crack is. http://i16.photobucket.com/albums/b2...4/HPIM0893.jpg |

Yes, changed out crankset to the XT in order to shed some weight from the bike.

I know you have no choice when your squish is cracked or your HT gets stolen, but the SS vs. geared is a hoot. |
I agree with chelboed, again. You're worse than I am!

It's funny to read your blog and then read your comments here on the forums. You're like the ultimate "flipper"...even more than myself. You totally decide on something and say you're ultimately happy with it, then you flip back to something else.

My issues always lie within my need to keep up with my riding buddies vs. having the time of my life on my bike.
My perfect ride would be a SC Bullit with Prob. a 36 Vanilla...somewhere around 32-34lbs or so. I'd have a 2ring with guide. I'd take my dadgum time climbing up hills and dadgum enjoy the heck out of the descents. My problem therein lies being able to keep up with the XC ****ers that I ride with that like to middle-ring the climbs. No way I could do it on a Bullit...hence I'm back to the hardtail as well. Can't afford to have 2 nice bikes. Always flipping back and forth in my mind though about a Heckler to do it all. |

You need a B4X...under 30lbs, wind the Pike down (and lock the shock if you feel it necessary) for climbing and XC riding, then let it rip in the corners (corners soooooo good), on the descents, and in the air. I'll be using it for shuttling tonight and a XC race on Saturday...it's damned versatile.

I might be wrong, but it looks like the guy with the Surly's wheel is crocked.

I know it's old and it's not top-of-the-line, but it's the best bike I've ever owned, and I'm loving riding it. It inspires confidence, and with 27 gears, can go just about anywhere. It's a Rock Hopper Comp with Ritchey OCR Comp rims and Specialized hubs-not sure if the rims are standard. The rear deraileur is XT, as well, which there is some question about whether it's stock. Anyway, this is my second Specialized bike-first one was a Hard Rock Comp, and I'm loving the feel. Very light and agile-I'm the only limitation with my 260 lb frame. I've never seen handlebars like this on a good mountain bike-Bontrager Crowbars-are they any good? Also, the Bontrager seat is very comfortable. The initial pain of getting back into riding is already gone.
