I'm going to go out on a limb here (being not that knowledgeable myself) and say that $200 sounds fair for that. Not knowing exactly what year that is, if you go here, most people paid more than $200.

IT started out as Mountian Bike

HI,
My ride was my attempt to find soemthing fairly resonable and yet versitile for my weight,

After test riding 10 fs XC/AM bikes like the yeti 575 race, pivot mach 5, specialized epic pro, and others, I decided the Trek ex9 was by far my favorite. Just picked up this new beauty for $2600 and will take it on its maiden voyage to put it through the official ringer test:)

Castillo! Another one, you're racking up forums left right and center.

Castillo has a crazy valid point.

I'm moving from Washington DC to Adelaide, South Australia next year. Are there any parts I should stock-up on prior to moving? Will my extra tubes and chains be worth their weight in gold?

Nah stuff like that is easy to some across for a few dollars, but complete bikes and any kind of boutique frames are going to set you back some dough in most cases. Parts such as brakes/forks etc are pretty pricey too. Consider yourself lucky really, a lot of these companies (fox, hayes, transition etc) are based in the US and don't have to go trough importers etc...

castillo 08-27-08 07:12 PM

Yeah what geoff said. Unless you're friends with a wholesaler, you really do pay handsomely for anything. Possibly part of the reason I can't stand gary fisher, because they always seem to be double the price of anything else (I understand this may not be the case everywhere but it still makes me mad).

Is that a mini-fridge stocked with frosty beverages under the work bench?

I sure hope so.

Thanks 66. That's a nice scythe - hows the 88 treating you?

BFG 08-29-08 02:09 AM

Yeah i really meant 88, instead of 888 :|

wheelhot 08-29-08 05:20 AM

mtnbiker, I didn't know that Banshee has an XC model? The Rampant look very similar to the Anthem, and the rear triangle tells me this is a Virtual Pivot kind of bike?

The Rampant is a 4X bike.

They work better and look better flipped backwards.

So far so good (2 days of DH). I got a couple clicks of travel wind-down on each day and I've still got a lot of tweaking to do, but I think it'll work.

mtnbiker66 08-29-08 09:21 AM

BFG, Gastro could ride a razor scooter on a big mountain and he would shred it.

Has HighRevs become so high and mighty that he no longer has time to take pics of the local riff-raff's rides? Poor gastro has to rely on '66 for pictures.

It's still on loaner wheels right now - when mine arrive I will clean it up and ask him to get some catalog shots for you.

I was going to ask about the dirty bike but knew how touchy you OCD guys get, so decided against it.
