how do you choose a seat? how do you know which one would feel good, what would you usually look for in a seat, besides weight. as in, how do you know if one is good or not.

i think you basically pay for no weight, more or less. i have been buying higher end WTB seats for my bikes. even my road bike. they all seem to be very nice.
so yeah, i basically go by color, weight, and maybe somewhat narrow profile. truth be told, last time i was trying to shop for a seat my eyes became glazed over and they all started to look about the same.

Looks, weight and comfort. I used to like fatter DJ seats, but they rubbed my theighs kinda weird on manuals, so I have slimmed down in my choices just a little bit.
I hardly sit on my seats though.

I think if under the specifications it says "this seat is 1337" then you're set.

Throw the stick!!!!
I just got lucky and found some saddles that work for me. Unfortunately I went through quite a few saddles to find them. The biggest downside is that none of the saddles that work for me are cheap.

all better saddles are designed for length and width...a few mm each way makes totally different seat...and your gebder, weight, body build, and riding style will determine what works best for you.
My wife has swapped all of the saddles on her 6 bikes with 262 X 160mm WSD saddles, even on her hybrids. Don't ask how many saddles she had until she found her "perfect size.
Same for me
