I'm sorry, Yes I'd have to say there is a lot to the simple life, and being a retro grouch takes one to a higher plane!
A guy I ride with quite a bit runs a SS, he walks up some hills, and fly past me on the down side. but in the end, we usually get back to the trucks together.
All you really need to ride a bike, is a bike. Everything else might just be luxuries. It depends on how you look at it, what you do with your bike and what you want from your bike, doesn't it?
