Iron Horse bike not on website???
I saw this bike at the store that i can't seem to find anywhere on the Iron Horse website... what does this mean? did they just build it from spare pasts and slapped on a Ironhorse sticker?

What model is it? It could be from last year or the year before.
You could always email Todd at Iron Horse and ask him.

It's called Iron Horse Sonic 03. You can check it out at the SportChek website at https://www.sportchek.ca.

I have never heard of it. Some companies release different bikes in different countries, it might be a Canadian only model?
Email Todd and ask him.

If you're thinking about buying that bike I would think again!!
I just got into Mountain Biking this spring and thought that the Sonic was a great deal and would certainly suffice for the easy riding I was going to do. Boy was I wrong.
I had that bike on one ride around the block and the shifter lever exploded into 5 pieces right in my hand. Cheap doesnt even begin to describe the components on that thing!
I think Ironhorse was so ashamed of that bike they deleted any record of it off their website.
I will say one thing positive though. Should you decide to buy it and find out later you dont like it, they will give you all your money back.
Just FYI, I took the Sonic back and paid only 100 more dollars to get a Specialized Hardrock from an actual bike shop.
Good Luck.

Iron Horse is a quality bike manufacturer, but they also make Cheapo bikes to be sold at places like Wal Mart. THis is one of those. Go buy a real bike from a bike shop.

The Iron Horse Sonic is not a u.s. model I can tell you that much. Very well could be a Canada or Euro model only. I cannot get anything from them with steel rims.

Because sportcheck is the only dealer in canada and Sportchek only has a few stores rated to carry post 1500$ bikes there probably are models sportcheck specifically asked to be made as they are easy to sell. Salespeople in sportchek can sell 20 to 30 200-400$ bikes to every 1 worth over 1000$ depending on the market (with all the heavy advertising occuring online for ironhorse I imagine sportcheck will be cashing in next year though).
I made a crap load of money working sales at sportchek and sold one bike worth 1000$ in 3 months. I had the highest sales rating in Western Canada as well. All supply and demand. Sportchek does sell ironhorse but makes its money off of cheaper bikes.

thanks for the advice guys, no more buying bikes from sportchek!!
i found this bike at my LBS for $329.99. It's a Norco Mountaineer. have any suggestions about his one? I really like the Hardrock 2003 model but it's a little too expensive for me...$449.99 not including cdn tax. i think i need to buy a used bike instead of a new but cheap department store bike, but it's so hard finding any stores around me that sells used bikes.

You can try buying old bikes from fellow riders. That's how I got my bike. Try www.nsmb.com and www.pinkbike.com

Actually I would buy from sportchek. I really like like the higher end ironhorses and how cheap sportchk sells them. I would buy one strip it and then fix it up (obviously it wouldn't ride right first try) and sportchek does treat warranties on expensive bikes really well as you just gave someone a massive commision...
I wouldn't buy lower end bikes there though.

IMHO their prices on hi-end bikes are jacked up compared to bike shops.

Why would you want exactly Iron Horse when there are so many other good brands?
Heh, it's good to back. Recently finished my second year at Ottawa U (gotta repeat one course - D'oh!). Enjoying my 125cc. Gonna get some photos soon.

Progressive shock
Boxxer Race
Wicked frame (to look at and burly)
Evil chainguide
lx/xt drive train
etc...
For 2500 thats a great price. I am always surprised by how stupid the marketing team is. This kick ass DH bike isn't even available in BC...haha

It could be a rebadged out of date model. Sportcheck doesn't sell old bikes (02's) so they could have taken a sinister or something and rebadged it. It does seem to have that geometry.
