Wow!

This morning was the first time that I took the HardRock out for a spin on a technical course. Its roughly 9 miles. The first 1/3 of the trail is uphill, the second 1/3 is flat but with some serious rock gardens, and the last 1/3 of the hill is slightly downhill.

I was very, very impressed with the way my new toy handled that course. The last time I did it on another bike it took me about 2 hours. Today I finished in an hour and 12 minutes! I thought I was gonna have a bumpy ride being a hard tail and all. NOPE! The ride was very comfortable and fun. The rear derailleur shifts kinda sloppy. Ill be getting my 30 day free tune up today.

If they have the Race Face Diabolus Stem, Ill be buying it! also getting the Titec Hell Bent Riser Bar. Headset is Cane Creek so ill keep that.

Basically, I wanna thank everyone for convincing me on getting a better bike. I am VERY HAPPY with the Specialized HardRock!!!!

If you only have 1 free tuneup in 30 days I would wait a couple of weeks. That sloppiness WILL get worse in the next 30 to 60 days.

Diabolus? IMHO that's overkill - it's tougher than your frame.

I picked up a Hardrock Pro and I agree - It's a nice bike. Congrats on the ride!

You think so? Ive never realized how much abuse my steering takes until today. Its backed by a lifetime warranty so why not? Only 70 bucks online.

It is a very strong dh stem...but it is cool and strong and for 70$ I might grab another...overkill is always better than underkill

Why not get it now? Save the old stem. If/when you upgrade the frame, you can always transfer the Diabolus.

Hey Troie, hate to tell you this, but I just picked one up slightly used from a guy that had a pair for only $50.00.

I haven't ridden it yet, but it's solid and looks oooh sooo sweeeeet!
