bottom bracket weirdness

i have been plagued by a clunking sound coming from my bike for a while now, and many people have said its the b.b and it will need replacing.

this week i was going to do it myself, but i have noticed something peculiar , and that is when im out on my bike and it rains, the clunking sound from the bike goes, this has happened consistently everytime the bike gets wet , as when its dry , it sounds off.

could it be that the bb threads just need a good greasing?

if the bb was truly gone , would it not always make that sound in wet and dry?

thank you

dog

it may not be the BB...try some oil on your peddle bearings

Just take apart the BB and clean/grease it then do that with your pedals also. Couple times I took apart my BB to find it it was fine and my pedals were the ones making the noise.
