Fisher Opie???
Well ive been looking at bikes for awhile now and cant decide whether to get the opie or a 4300 i only have about $400 to spend but i want a nice bike (for now) for the money and something i can upgrade later on. I ride mostly everything about everyday but i wanna get started in mountain biking (like the real stuff) I'm kinda new to the MTB scene so im not to familiar with the lingo...if you think theres a better bike out there for me by all means dont hesitate to enlighten me... Thanks in advance

The Giant Rincon or KHS Alite 300 are nice bikes in that price range, also K-2 Zed, Iron horse Maverick 5.5 is on sale at performance bicycle. Go to as many shops and ride as many bikes as you can.

Pretty much what I'm saying is that if you end up riding alot then you will wear out or break the components on both bikes but you probably won't ever need to upgrade the Opie's frame unless you decide you want a "light weight" race frame. The Trek however...is a good beginner's bike, but the frame is neither light nor tough. It's made for a beginner to learn to enjoy the trails.
edit:
I had a Fisher HKEK frame (light race frame) and it broke. They replaced it with my choice of color in a VERY short time. They have a good warranty dept. not that you would need it.
