I did the same thing when I was 14. I worked in our capitol cafeteria as bus boy / dish washer. I thing I made less than $4 per hour, being under age they didn't have to pay minimum wage back then. The water in that cleaner was so hot I don't think I had any finger prints by the end of the summer. I was able to afford a sweet boogie board (about $250) when I went to the beach that year though, it was all worth it!!! That was 17 years ago, man time flies.

When I was 13 {1965}, I rode my bike {$15.00 basket case that I painted with spray can and put together} to the local college library and stacked books all day for $1.50 an hour.
Did I mention it was uphill.......both ways.

I bought a push mower at your age, $35 at a garage sale, $15 sharpening kit. I went out on Saturdays / Sundays could pull down $100 a day no problem only working a few hours ($10/lawn, I had a fancy dandelion puller would charge $20 for cut / weed removal)

It'll be fall soon and then you can start making lotsa cash raking leaves, then winter is even better cash with shoveling snow! (I could pull in $200/day doing snow) Heck I should quit my job and just go back to doing that stuff... under the table ftw haha

The don't call them mechanics anymore, they are technitions, and they are very versed in the use of computers. The modern car is controled by onboard computers {some times 10-15 of them}. An auto technition has to be able to use handheld computers to interface with the auto onboard computers.
A lot of the newer cars don't even have throttle cables, they are fly by wire.
No, I'm not an auto repair technition, just saying......

Get really really fast on the bike you own. Win a bike in a big competition. Sell it, if you want to. Buy parts for your custom bike. Or just ride the one you won.
