Lock-on grip questions
I have a relatively new mtb (Avanti Montari) and noticed to my surprise that the tread on my grips is wearing down significantly.
These grips are called 'Dual Density "Vice Grip"'-the lock on variety. This bike is the first that I have encountered with these grips. From what I understand, the rubber grip is essentially placed over a rubber tube with an allen key locking mechanism, which is then slipped onto the handlebars and then tightened.
Is this correct?
In order to replace my grips, do I just replace the rubber bit or do I need to replace the whole locking mechanism as well?
Thanks

I just bought a new set of Lock on grips from ODI. they were only $30 CDN for bran new, so if you want to buy a new set, its not all that bad..
The only reason I bought mine was because, the grips that came on my Trek, were sliding around.. A LOT.. Which was weird for that bike.. The one I test road before I got mine, you couldnt move the grips just by hand at all.
Anyways, ya.. Point is they are not that pricey, so if you cant just get the grip, you can get all new ones..
