Derailluer Help

I have a bike with SRAM X-7 components, and I just recently bought one with Shimano. I really like the feel of the SRAM and want to put it on my new bike. I measured the cable length, and transferring the old one to the new bike would be too short. Is it possible to use the existing cables off the Shimano that are already run on my new bike, and unscrew the shifters and derailluers and add the SRAM components?

Thanks

Sure, give 'er a shot. Won't hurt to try. Probably OK.
