Seat Height

I have people tell me all the time at the trails that i ride my seat to low. When i am sitting on the saddle and put my feet down i can get my feet flat on the ground if i fully extend my legs.. SHould i raise my seat any more?

Optimal pedaling position is when your leg is pretty much fully extended while sitting on the saddle with your foot on the pedal.

It sounds like yours could be too low but it really depends on what type of riding you do.

well im not sure what the downgrade is on the trails but you can get to parts where you drop 20 feet of altitude within 60-80 feet of distance and clims are probably about a 40% upgrade...any suggestions?

You're not really describing a drop, it sounds like just a part of the trail where you're descending.

I don't have to worry about seat height on the trail bikes...I have a Gravity Dropper which allows me to enjoy the best of both worlds. That's my suggestion.

Your seat is too low. As an XC rider, at the bottom of your pedal stroke you should have just a little bit of bend in the knee. With the seat too low, you aren't getting an efficient pedaling stroke.

You can get very close to the optimal seat postion by putting you heal over the spindel of the pedal. Adjust your seat post untill your leg is fully extended. Your crank arm should be inline with your seat stay and at the botom of the stroke.
This will give you the 15-20 deg bend in your knee when you are pedaling.
