Gary Fisher Sugar 1
A coworker's friend is selling three bikes to raise funds. The premier bike is a Gary Fisher Sugar 1. It's mostly black with red and yellow bands & a "genesis" label on the chain stays. I'm guessing it is a 2001.
It also looks like the fork, stem, and crankset are not OEM. It is a full suspension bike with cantilever brakes.
Together with a TREK SFX 7.2 and a Cannondale Comfort 400 in pristine shape the price mentioned was $300. It may be $300 for just the Sugar 1.
I suspect this is a real score - if I get it. I don't know the exact size. Am I correct in assuming I could turn a fair profit on the Sugar 1 even if it costs me $300?
Thanks all!

I don't know about turning a profit. It would really depend on the component spec.If you are looking for a ridable bike at that price I'd get it. The cantilever is an issue, maybe you mean vee brakes. Other than that for around $250 or so it's not a bad deal.

2001 Fisher Sugar 1 listed for over $3,500. Most people paid anywhere from $1,200 to $4,000 for them in 2001 and 2002. Median seemed to be about $3k.
I don't know either about "turning a profit" -- not many people willing to pay a lot for an early '00s short-travel suspension bike, so much has changed since then: XC racers don't want single pivot without a platform shock or a good multi-link; trail riders want more travel and a less twitchy geometry. Buy it and enjoy the heck out of it, if it floats your boat.

Kudos on trying to take advantage of someone else's apparent misfortune in an effort to "turn a fair profit".
