I have ridden the hayes exclusively and tested the hopes a few times. Both have some degree of modulation. I find the hayes modulated a bit better...but that was me. In short...they all do, brakes would be useless if they just stopped you.
I did a full rebuild/replace of the master cylinder in 3 beers and 30 minutes. They are not a pain at all. I find they are a set and forget kind of thing. Worst things about discs is when the rotor warps...that sucks
