hydro disc

hydro disc

iv herd that the hydro disc are either on or off no inbetween so its hard to use just a little break. and they are a pain to maintain. true?

I would have to say - false. The Hayes hydraulic discs that I have offer great modulation and power. I cannot comment on any other brand of hydraulic. I do have the Avid mechanicals on another bike which are also very nice, but do not offer quite the smoothness or modulation of the Hayes hydraulics.

I have ridden the hayes exclusively and tested the hopes a few times. Both have some degree of modulation. I find the hayes modulated a bit better...but that was me. In short...they all do, brakes would be useless if they just stopped you.

I did a full rebuild/replace of the master cylinder in 3 beers and 30 minutes. They are not a pain at all. I find they are a set and forget kind of thing. Worst things about discs is when the rotor warps...that sucks

The Rockhopper FSR Comp Disc has them and was just wondering. Looks like a great bike but whats the weight?
