^^ Gawd I love those! What a jewel; enjoy!

Hey, doesn't that have pipe-jaws on the flip-side? There's your workstand, dood :D.

Edit - - hey, you snuck some more pics in. Cool.

Nothing makes you want to ride your bike more than two weeks on a sail boat with 3 other people. Looking forward to a nice 12 miler after I watch the two Topgear's I've missed.

Dannihilator 07-18-09 08:26 PM

I got to inflict some pain today on the person who stole my pista after catching him trying to jack it again. Plus he's in custody and is being charged for the theft.

ca7erham 07-18-09 08:40 PM

Sounds like fun. Care to elaborate?

Dannihilator 07-18-09 08:50 PM

Was getting a mid ride coffee for a pick me up and when leaving the coffee shop, I found the guy trying to cut through the chain. Chased him down knocked him down held him on the ground while having his left arm pinned behind his back until the police came and got a confession.

You're a stud, but instead of a kamora you should have gone for a oma plada or a triangle choke to really lok lika hero.

I'm new but you sound like you're drunk and dabble in BJJ.

Not everyone knows how to apply an omaplata (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3W5dVr-f9GU) you bad ass.

Bean_YWG 07-18-09 10:33 PM

Oma plata? Is that when a German grandmother hits you in the head with a plate for swearing?

So you got it back once and the same cat tried to steal it again? I love it when a thief gets bagged. Good stuff.

Very nice!

An Omaplata actually has it's roots in a traditional Brazilian dish of a Omelette Platter Latte.

It's both delicious and completely true!

This has been annoying me a lot lately. Is it "an LBS" or "a LBS"? I don't know if its supposed to be "a local bike store" or literally, "an el bee ess"

born2bahick 07-19-09 06:20 PM

It can mean us pounds, like 21 lbs. our it could mean local bike shop ( I recommend you visit the LBS to get fitted) It could mean lotsa bull squat ( I think your full of lbs ) It can also refer to loose bearing syndrome or load bearing stencils.

I could put a kamora on some LBS's and make them tap like little girls.

I'm not sure if this intentionally evaded my question or not  but I meant is it a or an?

born2bahick 07-20-09 05:45 AM

I roll with "A". But to each his own.

If you are saying it conversationally, it would be "an LBS" - - 'an' before the vowel-sound 'ell'; if you are writing it, technically, it would be "a LBS" because LBS is shorthand for the consonant-sound start of Local. But we all talk conversationally here anyway, so it doesn't matter really.

For the record.

P.S. - - Why is it not incorrect to say/write "AN historic moment" even though the consonant 'h' is pronounced?

It would be "a LBS" as in "a local bike shop" instead of "an local bike shop" which when said, sounds off.

The basic rule for "a" or "an" use is, use "a" in front of anything that starts with a consonant "That's a banana." or "That's a bike."

Use "an" in front of any word that starts with a vowel. "That's an apple." or "That's an omaplata, *you bad ass!"

If you were too switch the rule around...

a apple
a omaplata
an banana
an bike

You can probably "hear" how it sounds funny, and that's why.

* mtnbiker66 I'm just joking. Breaking stones.

You beat me to the punch by 5 minutes. I lost valuable time in the middle of my reply by getting coffee.

It looks like we're best friends now.

You want to get together and read books about mountain biking? Or mountain bike over a buncha books?

P.S.S. - - Why is it correct to say/write "AN hour" even though the consonant "h" is pronounced?

mzeffex 07-20-09 07:43 AM

I understand the whole a/an thing, just more of when you type LBS are you literally typing LBS or just abbreviating local bike shop? Which do you think when you type it?

ed 07-20-09 07:59 AM

And we've hit an all time low here on the Mountain Bike forums. It always seems to coincide with the TDF. What gives?

You pronounce the 'h' in hour? Do you pronounce honorable as "hawn'orable?"
