And another brain buster : What about the Iron Horse Axion?

I have a chance to get an Iron horse Axion for really cheap (around $50 cdn) and was wondering if it was worth it. I cant find anything on the net about it. I mean is it really that good that no one want anyone riding it? Do they want to keep all the Iron Horse goodness to themselfs? I think not, but does anyone here ride one, or know anything about it?

Currently I ride an 08 Trek 4300 hardtail, but I thought this might be a good way to get into DS bikes. At least the price is right.

I guess what I am asking is, what are the specs? Is it grip shift or index? What are the components? What are the brakes?

I just cant find anything on the good old Google to help me out. There were a couple links that put me just to this site.

Thanks in advance.

I just purchased an Iron Horse Bike and I can't find anything about it on your web site. How can I get more information?

A: The Iron Horse website is designed to highlight the bikes sold through independent bike dealers. Iron Horse also makes bike models that are sold through large retail chains. You can find information about these bikes on the retailers' websites. Please feel free to contact our Iron Horse service team at 1-800-645-5477 option 3 if you need more information.

Hmm...I just looked at their site. Does anybody here work in a shop that sells IH? I did until I went off to school, but their biggest sellers from my store seem to have been cut from their line if the site speaks the truth. Did they stop production of all their hardtail/pavement stuff? Just wonderin'.

I went to that site. I read that, I was just asking here because most people here would have good insight into what that bike would be like, I didnt want an Iron horse Rep telling me it great, when I know every bike has flaws.. Some bigger than other..

But thanks

oh, I know that, And I never wanted to get rid of it. I was just wondering what it was like. But, The kid backed out of the deal, so I am not getting it at all... Its probably a good thing. The last thing I needed was to take a step down. Now it just means I need to save and get something a little nicer. Maybe the Brodie Rite. (I wish)

Thanks to all that helped me out.

I have an 07 I.H. Adventure. I cut down the handlebars, and put on a set of skinny Gatorskin slicks. The bike is bombproof!I've beaten on it almost daily now for nine, or so months.Right after I got it I had a stick fly up, and jam the rear derailer into the back wheel. Had to replace the derailer hanger, straighten the crank, rear fork, replace (upgrade) the rear derailer.I didn't lose a single spoke, and a little trueing, and the wheel was good as new. Eastern Mountain Sports gave me excellent service ON THE SPOT, while I waited, watched, and asked questions, and got some good information. I was riding it again the same day. Since then I've been wailing on it. My wifes Specialized has had the wheels trued twice in the same period of time, and she rides about 1/10 of what I ride. I don't know why people love to trash these bikes!! Just don't buy a Wallyworld model, but that applies to any brand. As for their marketing proceedures, I will plead ignorance. I know that's a bone of contention with l.b.s.. But as for quality, it's a rugged freakin bike!! Nothing wrong with the one I got!!!
That said, I did notice a total lack of street bikes for 08. I was wondering about that myself. What's up with that?
