Well, Ive layed out my very own track on our 50acre farm. Ive only mowed out the path and set where my jumps will be. LOTS of work is still yet to be done with a bobcat like moving dirt for jumps and berms. I'm building it around our old ABA BMX track we had back in the early 90's. Its all grown up with grass and weeds but I plan on utilizing some of the bigger jumps. The track is all slanted downhill and is going to be very fast and hopefully none of us will die!

Has anyone done anything like this in their back yard? I'm looking for advice and suggestions.

I'm hoping it can be completed by early spring.

btw. Im looking to buy someones Frame for this type of riding!

Yea, there are a ton of dirt jumping frames. Higher end frames include the sub 22, evil imperial, 24 letoy,... etc. But if your on a budget, get either a surly instigator or like azonic evolution, cove stiffee

i dont see why youd want a sub 22, im assuming your talking ellsworth here. thats more of an xc bike, look at the specialist if you want a more freeridy bike, but still, being an ells, youll spend a fortune, and itll prolly end up breaking. [im scared of my ellsie joker snapping]

check out the norco bikes too, they have some hot dj type bikes

well atcually the question is, do you want more of an mtx type bike or a dj bike. this is what will really determine your bike

get a planet x! i just picked up a used jack flash rad and all i can say about the thing is WOW! but for hardtails, there are definitely plenty to choose from. you might want to hit up ben @ unrealcycles.com since he has very competitive pricing and he knows his stuff left and right. you can just get the parts or have him build it up at a killer price. but i would suggest giving him a call as he has frames from the budget to the boutique.

Ya, actually we just picked up a ranch thing with about 40 acres and im doing the same thing as you. I planning on buyin a Cat D6 or something to build up. There is a track East of Marin that has a huge mtnx course and stuff. Im asking the owner on advice. Ill post when i get tips from him.

are you in the bay area? i know some people that would probably DEFINITELY be down to help build a kick arse course. we are currently fixing up shady 80 in berkeley.

Ya im in marin, Tiburon, across the highway from Mt.Tam. Our ranch is actually up in napa, about 1 and a half hours away from me, more for you. Ive heard about shady 80 but never been there, u got directions, i'd love to help
